What is a freelance motorcycle rider coach?

A Freelance Motorcycle Rider Coach is a professional instructor who teaches individuals or groups how to safely and effectively ride motorcycles. Unlike coaches who work for a specific riding school or organization, freelance coaches operate independently, often offering personalized lessons, group sessions, or specialized training. They typically cover topics like motorcycle operation, safety techniques, road rules, and advanced riding skills. Many freelance coaches are certified by recognized organizations and can tailor their coaching to riders of all experience levels. This flexibility allows them to meet the specific needs and schedules of their clients.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a freelance motorcycle rider coach?

To thrive as a Freelance Motorcycle Rider Coach, you need advanced riding skills, in-depth knowledge of safety regulations, and typically a motorcycle instructor certification such as the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) RiderCoach credential. Familiarity with training curricula, safety equipment, and basic first aid systems is important for effective instruction. Outstanding communication, patience, and motivational skills help coaches connect with diverse learners and foster a safe, supportive environment. These competencies ensure students gain confidence, learn safe riding habits, and reduce accident risks on the road.

What are some common challenges freelance motorcycle rider coaches face, and how can they effectively manage client scheduling and communication?

Freelance motorcycle rider coaches often juggle a varied client base, which can lead to challenges in coordinating lesson schedules, ensuring clear communication, and adapting to different learning styles. To manage these effectively, many coaches use digital scheduling tools, establish clear communication channels (such as email or messaging apps), and set expectations with clients upfront. Staying organized and flexible is key, as weather or last-minute cancellations may require quick adjustments. Building strong relationships with clients and maintaining open lines of communication can help create a positive learning environment and foster repeat business.

Average total pay: $17 - $24+ an hour (hourly base pay + uncapped tiered commission structure, based on meeting your sales goal)

Comoto Holdings is America's largest and fastest-growing omnichannel platform in the powersports aftermarket-products industry; dedicated to advancing the experience of powersports enthusiasts across the globe. Comoto's brands, RevZilla, Cycle Gear, J&P Cycles, REVER, and Common Tread,  deliver premium products, dedicated expertise, engaging media, and passionate customer support of the powersports community, through best-in-class e-commerce and retail experiences.

Job Description

Ready to fuel your leadership journey and inspire a team of passionate riders? As an Assistant Store Manager at Comoto Family of Brands, you'll be a key player in driving store success, coaching your team to victory, and creating an electrifying experience for every customer who walks through our doors. We're not just a retailer; we're a community dedicated to serving the rider, fueling the industry, and inspiring the community. If you're someone who aims for the podium, embraces smart risks, believes in teamwork, keeps it real, and is driven by the open road, let's ride!

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Aim For The Podium: Drive store sales by training, leading by example, coaching, and clearly communicating sales goals across all Zones daily. Take ownership of the store's look and feel by guiding and participating in cleaning, stocking, organizing, and merchandising efforts. Stay in the know about our brand, products, company news, and events to keep the team informed and engaged. Ensure all Zones are executing merchandising plans flawlessly and that all merchandising adheres to MAPP standards.

  • Take Risks; Wear a Helmet: Don't be afraid to try new approaches! We value preparedness and encourage you to share both your successes and learning moments with your team and peers.

  • Share The Road: Always do what's right and champion the same high standards within the team. Recognize that our stores are destinations for riders, and consistently cultivate an energetic and engaging atmosphere. Assist in building our winning team by participating in the interview and hiring process.

  • Keep It Real: Provide consistent, on-the-spot coaching and feedback by actively engaging throughout the store to elevate overall store performance, not just individual Zone targets. Ensure the team consistently follows Cycle Gear's "GEAR'D UP" selling process with every customer. Support the Store Manager with inventory control and ensure accuracy at every step of the product lifecycle within our stores. Collaborate with Zone Leads and the Store Manager to coach and develop Zone team members and assist with team member improvement plans.

  • Fuel Your Passion: We're invested in your growth! You'll have the chance to complete ongoing training and development opportunities. Plus, you might even get to represent Comoto at cool events like annual sales meetings, Bike Nights, and local moto gatherings - a chance to connect with the community we love! And, like any good pit crew member, you'll be ready to tackle other job duties as needed.

    What We Offer:

    • A fun and energetic work environment surrounded by fellow moto enthusiasts.
    • You'll kick off your journey with a strong focus on learning! Your first five shifts will be dedicated to learning the ropes of our store operations, our sales process and product knowledge. To ensure your full focus is on training, your first full month will be base pay only.
    • A chance to be part of a team that truly values its people and its community.
    • Opportunities to learn and grow within the company.
    • Generous discounts on all of the powersports brands we carry as well as a free REVER Pro subscription and an annual reimbursement for you to enhance your riding skills.
    • Wellness initiatives include: Team Member Resource Groups for open communication, DailyPay for early access to earned wages, and our "Road To Wellbeing" program.
    Qualifications

You'll Thrive In The Role If You:

    • Are a passionate rider with real-world experience and a strong connection to the motorcycle community.
    • Embrace full leadership ownership, bringing proven experience managing and developing a retail team to consistently crush store-wide sales goals and key performance indicators.
    • Act as a true partner to the Store Manager, confidently driving operational excellence, including a meticulous focus on organization, inventory control, and flawless merchandising execution.
    • Find satisfaction in coaching and development, skillfully turning team potential into proven results by providing clear, transparent feedback and fostering growth.
    • Demonstrate exceptional communication, enabling you to delegate effectively, resolve complex issues, and serve as a reliable, transparent leader for the entire team.
