We're partnering with a school district in Lake County, Illinois to hire a Special Education Teacher for an elementary co-teaching/inclusion assignment.
This is a leave coverage (LOA) opportunity supporting students in general education settings with accommodations, modifications, and targeted small-group instruction as needed.
Position Details:
  • Grade Levels: Elementary
  • Location: Lake County, IL
  • School Year: 2026/2027 (LOA coverage)
  • Schedule: Full-time, up to 35 hours per week
  • Anticipated End Date (current LOA timeline): October 23, 2026
Responsibilities:
  • Deliver specialized instruction that supports students with disabilities in accessing the general curriculum.
  • Collaborate in co-taught classrooms with general education partners and/or support staff to serve all learners.
  • Provide targeted pull-out support in specific skill areas (e.g., reading, math, social skills) as needed.
  • Implement accommodations and modifications to promote full participation, inclusion, and social interaction.
  • Support individualized programming that may include life skills, behavior supports, therapeutic supports, or transition-focused instruction.
  • Participate in IEP implementation and progress monitoring in alignment with school and district expectations.
Qualifications:
  • Illinois Special Education credential / PEL (required).
  • Experience supporting students who learn in general education settings with added supports and services.
  • Ability to plan and deliver instruction in small-group and/or individualized formats.
  • Skill in designing and applying accommodations and modifications aligned to student needs.
  • Ability to support students with a range of needs, including targeted interventions, functional skills, behavior supports, or transition readiness.
