ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We're looking for a dynamic and innovative Social Strategy & Content Lead to run ONE's social media strategy, performance, audience growth, and day-to-day channel direction across our global platforms.

This is a highly strategic and hands-on role. Successful candidates will have a track record of leading social media strategy, performance, and content direction - and also be excited to create content, test new formats, engage directly with platforms, and remain closely connected to day-to-day channel performance.

We want someone who lives and breathes social media - someone who understands platform trends, algorithms, audience behavior, creator culture, and emerging technologies, and can translate those insights into content, campaigns, and distribution strategies that drive audience growth, engagement, brand visibility, and advocacy impact. This role will join a talented team of content, creative, and communications specialists and can be based in either the Washington, DC or London, UK office.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL

  • Platform Strategy & Innovation: Serve as ONE's in-house expert on social media platforms, algorithms, audience behavior, creator culture, and emerging technologies. Continuously identify opportunities to strengthen ONE's reach, relevance, and impact by testing new formats, tools, approaches, and platform features.
  • Social Strategy & Execution: Lead day-to-day social media strategy and execution across platforms, translating organizational priorities into platform-specific content plans, publishing strategies, audience engagement approaches, and reactive content opportunities.
  • Analytics & Optimization: Own social media performance analysis and reporting across platforms using Emplifi and native analytics tools. Translate audience insights, platform trends, and performance data into actionable recommendations that improve content performance, audience growth, and overall social media strategy.
  • Social Content Direction: Lead the development of platform-native content strategies, editorial calendars, and content formats across channels. Provide strategic direction and feedback on videos, graphics, creator partnerships, campaigns, and storytelling approaches to maximize engagement and performance.
  • Distribution & Audience Growth: Lead organic, paid, and partner distribution strategies to maximize audience growth, reach, engagement, and campaign impact. Identify opportunities to scale high-performing content across channels, markets, creators, and paid promotion.
  • Creator & Influencer Strategy: Work closely with the Associate Director of Partnership Strategies to identify and collaborate with creators, influencers, activists, and partners who can help expand reach, strengthen credibility, and connect ONE's issues with priority audiences.
  • Content Creation & Production: Create high-priority, experimental, and reactive content as needed, including short-form video, creator content, interviews, event coverage, and social-first storytelling assets. Remain actively engaged in content creation and platform execution to stay closely connected to audience behavior and platform trends.
  • Management & Mentorship: Manage and mentor the Social & Content Coordinator by providing clear direction, constructive feedback, and professional development while overseeing day-to-day publishing, community management, and content execution.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with the Creative Lead, Brand & Creative Operations Lead, designers, market social media leads, external creators, agencies, and partners to execute integrated campaigns and maximize content performance across audiences and platforms.

  • Deep understanding of social media platforms, algorithms, creator ecosystems, audience behaviors, and emerging trends across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, X, Bluesky, and emerging platforms.
  • Demonstrated success growing audiences, increasing engagement, and translating platform insights into high-performing social media strategies.
  • Strong experience developing platform-specific content strategies and providing direction on social-first storytelling, video content, creator partnerships, and audience engagement.
  • Experience managing organic and paid social media strategies and using analytics to optimize performance.
