Job description

VP of Marketing

Location: Franklin, TN (In-Person, Mon–Thu / WFH Fridays)

Type: Full-Time

Reports to: CEO

Summary

We’re hiring a VP of Marketing to build and lead the function from the ground up. You’ll own brand, demand generation, content, creator/influencer programs, and go-to-market strategy. You’ll be both the architect and the executor — setting the vision and shipping the work.

This is a player‑coach role. On Monday you might be building a campaign strategy for a new vertical. On Tuesday you’re writing the ad copy and launching it. On Wednesday you’re reviewing attribution data and re‑allocating budget. If you’ve only operated in large marketing orgs where strategy and execution are separate jobs, this isn’t the right fit.

Your Role
  • Demand generation - paid media, performance marketing, conversion optimization, newsletter and media partnerships. You’ve run real budget and can show the math on every dollar.
  • Brand and positioning - how Thnks shows up in the market, the story we tell, and why it matters. You’ll sharpen our category position and own the creative direction.
  • Content - website, landing pages, campaign assets, thought leadership. You’ll either create it yourself or build the team to do it.
  • Creator and influencer programs - a coordinated network of practitioners who tell authentic stories about relationship‑driven selling.
  • Go‑to‑market by vertical - develop industry‑specific messaging and targeting for our highest‑performing segments.
  • Team building - hire and lead a small, high‑output marketing team over the next 6–12 months.
What We’re Looking For
  • Startup experience. You’ve been at a company with fewer than 50 people. You know what it means to build something from nothing with limited resources and no playbook handed to you.
  • Product‑led growth. You understand PLG funnels, self‑serve conversion, lead scoring, PQL frameworks, and how marketing feeds a bottoms‑up sales motion. This isn’t a traditional enterprise demand gen role.
  • Demand gen and brand. You don’t live on just one side of the house. You can build a paid media engine and develop a brand point of view. We need both from one leader.
  • AI‑native. You use AI tools every day — for content, creative, research, data analysis, campaign optimization, and reporting. This isn’t a nice‑to‑have. A small AI‑native team will outperform a traditional team three times the size. That’s the bet.
  • E‑commerce or transactional model experience. Our business is consumption‑based, not subscription‑based. Experience with transactional, marketplace, or e‑commerce models where you optimize for purchase frequency and AOV, not just lead gen, is a strong plus.
  • Strong writer. You can write positioning, campaign copy, investor communications, and a LinkedIn post that people actually engage with.
  • Local Commitment: You are a Middle Tennessee professional able to work in office four days a week at our Franklin headquarters.
Bonus Points
  • Creator Economy Expertise: Background in influencer/creator marketing in B2B.
  • Scale Mastery: Experience helping to scale a company past $100m+ revenue.
Our Commitment to You
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance (80–100% employer‑covered).
  • Future Planning: 401(k) matching to support your long‑term goals.
  • Stipends: Monthly cell phone and internet stipend.
  • Work‑Life Balance: 20 PTO days, company‑paid holidays, and work‑from‑home Fridays.
  • Wellbeing: Company‑paid life and long‑term disability insurance.
  • Team Spirit: Regular team‑building and volunteering events.
