They typically offer makeup services for clients at various locations, such as homes, events, photo shoots, or weddings. Freelance makeup artists manage their own schedules, set their own rates, and are responsible for building their client base. Their work may include bridal makeup, fashion/editorial looks, special effects, or everyday beauty services depending on their skills and interests.

Job description

Dedicated Brand Advisor - Houston, TX
Department: Field Sales
Employment Type: Part Time
Location: Houston, TX
Compensation: $26.00 - $30.00 / hour
Description
This is not your typical Brand Advisor role. Instead of representing several brands across your market, you'll be the dedicated, in-market face of one high-profile prestige beauty brand - exclusively.
We're keeping the name under wraps for now, but here's what we can share: it's one of the most anticipated launches in beauty right now, built on education, authenticity, and making great skin and makeup feel approachable for everyone. This is a rare ground-floor opportunity to own a brand's presence in your stores and grow with it from day one.
Because you'll be the sole representative for this brand in your market, we're looking for someone with real Sephora experience, strong existing relationships, and the kind of ownership mindset that turns a launch into a success story.
This is a dedicated role for the Houston, TX market area.
What You'll Do
  • Serve as the dedicated expert and face of the brand at your assigned Sephora location(s)
  • Drive sales through expert product education, live demonstrations, and genuine customer connection
  • Master the brand's full range, story, and technology so you can educate with authority and confidence
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with Sephora store leadership and staff to keep the brand front and center on the floor
  • Deliver a consistent, on-brand experience every shift - you own how the brand shows up in your door
  • Execute launches, events, and in-store activations with energy and polish
  • Meet and exceed sales goals, taking full ownership of your results
  • Complete post-shift reporting and stay connected with your Headkount team via the Headkount app (Connecteam)

What You Bring
  • Established experience working in Sephora, with existing relationships and a strong reputation in-store (required)
  • A proven track record as a top seller and educator in prestige beauty
  • Deep product knowledge in skincare and/or makeup
  • A can-do, positive, accountable attitude - you take ownership and follow through without being asked
  • Excellent communication skills; polished, professional, and well-presented
  • Self-motivated and reliable, and comfortable being the sole brand representative in your market
  • Availability for retail hours, including weekends and key event dates
  • Must be in good standing with Sephora and able to work in their locations

Why Headkount
  • This is a W2 employee position - not a freelance or contractor role. You get the benefits and protections of true employee status, including workers' compensation, unemployment insurance eligibility, and employer-paid payroll taxes.
  • 20+ mile commute mileage covered by us.
  • Product gratis and hands-on brand training
  • A ground-floor role with a marquee brand and a company that invests in its people
