There are a variety of positions at our parks and lodges that range from skilled technicians to skilled trades.

Job Summary:

The Kitchen Equipment Technician in Mammoth Hot Springs, performs troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and seasonal opening/closing of commercial kitchen equipment and systems in Xanterra-operated facilities. This year-round position plays a critical role in maintaining equipment reliability, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, and supporting continuous operations. In addition to technical responsibilities, this role serves as a mentor to seasonal employees—providing hands-on training, reinforcing safe work practices, and supporting skill development to ensure consistent performance across peak operating seasons. Work is tracked and reported using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Pay: $24.35/hour
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, plumbing, mechanical, refrigeration, and steam systems for commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Perform, document, and verify scheduled preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and compliance.
  • Track, update, and close work orders in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Support seasonal opening and closing of kitchen facilities, ensuring systems are operational and ready for service.
  • Train and mentor seasonal employees on equipment operation, preventive maintenance tasks, troubleshooting basics, and safety standards.
  • Provide guidance, oversight, and informal coaching to reinforce accountability, quality of work, and adherence to procedures.
  • Assist Food & Beverage teams with proper equipment use, care, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Follow OSHA/NFPA standards; identify and correct unsafe practices and escalate concerns as needed.
  • Select and use appropriate tools, materials, and methods safely and efficiently.
  • Support Xanterra’s environmental and sustainability initiatives in daily operations.
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with cross-functional teams.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including occasional overtime, weekends, holidays, or night work.

Qualifications
  • Manufacturer training or certifications for commercial kitchen equipment (e.g., combi ovens, dish machines, fryers, refrigeration systems).
  • Experience with commercial refrigeration systems, refrigerant recovery, and EPA Section 608 certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, or lead less-experienced employees in a technical or operational setting.
  • Prior experience in hospitality, institutional kitchens, or remote/park environments.
  • Familiarity with CMMS and asset management best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to work holidays, weekends, and flexible shifts.

Physical Requirements include:

  • Ability to work in confined spaces and comply with respiratory protection regulations.
  • Walk up to 0.5 miles over uneven terrain; climb stairs and ladders; work in varied weather conditions at elevations above 6,000 ft.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Differentiate colors for water testing.
  • Perform heavy labor outdoors.
  • Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
