Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a motivated and detailoriented Field Inspector to support the delivery of major transit construction projects, including stations, trackwork, guideways, facilities, and system upgrades. The Field Engineer will work closely with the Resident Engineer, inspectors, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure that construction activities are executed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project requirements. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in the field, enjoys solving technical challenges, and is eager to grow within the transit and heavycivil infrastructure sector.

Role accountabilities:

  • Support daily field oversight of contractor activities, ensuring work complies with approved plans, specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Assist with reviewing submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and technical documentation, coordinate responses with design teams and the Resident Engineer.
  • Perform field measurements, quantity tracking, and verification of installed work for payment applications.
  • Document field conditions through daily reports, photos, inspection logs, and progress summaries.
  • Monitor construction progress and help identify potential issues related to schedule, quality, or safety.
  • Support coordination with transit operations, maintenance, safety teams, and thirdparty stakeholders to maintain safe work zones and minimize service impacts.
  • Participate in field inspections, testing, and commissioning activities for systems and facilities.
  • Assist with change order evaluations, cost analysis, and tracking of project risks.
  • Maintain organized project records in accordance with client and firm standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all field activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 1-4 years of experience in construction, engineering, or field inspection (transit or heavy civil experience preferred).

Key Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and field engineering practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problemsolving skills.
  • Proficiency with construction and project management tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, MS Project, Primavera P6).
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on transit, rail, or publicsector infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to work effectively in active, operational transit environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving field issues.
