Job description

The Bering-Alaka`ina Holdings, LLC is recruiting for a GIS Analyst II to support our Government Customer located at Command Navy Region Northwest, Washington state.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilizes Geographic Information System techniques to provide a better understanding of certain variables in a given geographic location.
  • Extracts data from GIS software and uses varying analysis methods to arrive at results.
  • Recommends appropriate reactionary strategies in response to GIS analysis.
  • Provides maps and data sets to clients to supplement analysis.
  • Knowledgeable of GIS software and technology. (May work in conjunction with CADD drafters and technicians.)
  • Custom Maps: These may be derived from currently available data, however, there may be instances where there will be a need to discover publicly available data, or develop the necessary data, to complete the request. Data for the maps may include tabular, graphic, or spatial. Output will be either digital or printed.
  • Data Services may include:
    • Extracting and formatting data from the regional data store to meet data requests from customers.
    • Evaluating data deliverables from contractors or outside agencies.
    • Maintaining regional data stores containing geospatial information.
    • Converting data from GIS to CAD and vice versa.
    • Collecting and post processing data from portable GPS units and incorporating that data into regional data stores.
    • Rectification - this is the process of geo-referencing a specific file (CAD, Tiff, PDF, etc.) so that is accurately referenced to the surface of the earth.
  • Analytic Services - May include some analysis of geospatial and/or tabular data. These occasions may include when the customer wants to conduct "what if" scenarios. These can range from determining sight lines for security forces, analyzing what effect new construction may have, or determining impacts to natural resources new roads or trails may have.
  • Visualization Services may include:
    • Create custom maps or graphics based on customer supplied data.
    • These visualizations will be limited to GIS-related projects.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, geography, or other related technical discipline is desired, however equivalent experience will be considered.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

At least two (2) years' experience in design, operations and integration of GIS applications and data.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Clearance-Tier 1

COMPENSATION DETAILS:Β 

  • $65,000.00 - $85,000.00
  • The compensation range or hourly rate provided is a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, internal equity, market conditions, and applicable laws.
