Job description

Role Summary

We are seeking a GIS Analyst to support the development and implementation of geospatial tools within SmartInfra Hub and related project applications. This role will focus on managing GIS data, building interactive web maps, supporting ArcGIS deliverables, integrating BIM/GIS workflows, and helping convert field and project data into meaningful visual insights.

The ideal candidate should understand both traditional GIS workflows and modern web-based mapping technologies. Experience in the AEC, infrastructure, construction, geotechnical, transportation, or water resources sector is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

GIS Data Management

  • Collect, clean, organize, and maintain spatial datasets for infrastructure and construction projects.
  • Work with shapefiles, geodatabases, CAD files, survey data, KML/KMZ, GeoJSON, raster data, and related spatial formats.
  • Prepare GIS data for internal project use, client deliverables, dashboards, and web applications.
  • Ensure spatial data accuracy, proper coordinate systems, metadata, and version control.

Web Mapping and Application Support

  • Support the development of interactive web maps using tools such as ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and other web mapping platforms.
  • Work with software developers to integrate GIS layers into SmartInfra Hub and related applications.
  • Assist in configuring map layers, symbology, popups, filters, legends, and project-specific map views.
  • Support spatial search, filtering, station/offset visualization, asset tracking, sensor locations, and project progress mapping.

ArcGIS and Client Deliverables

  • Prepare GIS deliverables in formats required by government and infrastructure clients.
  • Support ArcGIS-based workflows, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and geodatabase management.
  • Create maps, exhibits, figures, dashboards, and spatial reports for project teams and clients.
  • Ensure deliverables meet project specifications and client standards.

BIM / CAD / Digital Twin Integration

  • Support integration of GIS data with CAD, BIM, and digital twin workflows.
  • Work with CAD/BIM teams to align design files, survey data, and field data with geospatial systems.
  • Assist in visualizing infrastructure assets, sensor locations, project boundaries, construction activities, and inspection data in a geospatial environment.
  • Help bridge the gap between engineering design data and project field data.

Field and Construction Data Integration

  • Support workflows for mapping field observations, test locations, boreholes, instrumentation, monitoring points, inspections, and quality control data.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, surveyors, and software developers to define GIS requirements.
  • Assist in building spatial dashboards for construction progress, quality control, document control, instrumentation, and project monitoring.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Surveying, Construction Management, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience working with GIS data and mapping tools.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, or ESRI geodatabases.
  • Experience working with spatial data formats such as shapefiles, GeoJSON, KML/KMZ, CAD files, and geodatabases.
  • Understanding of coordinate systems, projections, spatial data accuracy, and map production.
  • Ability to create clear maps, exhibits, and dashboards for technical and non-technical users.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with engineering/project data.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in civil infrastructure, transportation, geotechnical, water resources, construction, or environmental projects.
  • Experience with Mapbox, web maps, APIs, or web GIS applications.
  • Familiarity with CAD/BIM tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks, or Bentley platforms.
  • Experience integrating GIS with databases such as PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQL Server, or cloud-based data platforms.
  • Familiarity with construction project workflows, survey data, stationing, offsets, alignments, and asset management.
  • Experience with dashboards such as Power BI, ArcGIS Dashboards, or custom web dashboards.
  • Basic scripting or automation experience using Python, SQL, or JavaScript is a plus.
  • Understanding of digital twin concepts for infrastructure projects.

Technical Skills

Candidates should have experience with the following:

  • ArcGIS Pro
  • ArcGIS Online / ArcGIS Enterprise
  • AutoCAD / Civil 3D
  • GeoJSON, shapefiles, KML/KMZ, geodatabases
  • Web maps and spatial APIs
  • Power BI or GIS dashboards

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work with engineers, developers, project managers, and field staff.
  • Ability to translate project requirements into practical GIS workflows.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and support product development.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across projects.
