Job Description
As the Senior Database & Backend Engineer you will be responsible for building our architecture and API management platform to run our flutter app on firebase using Angoliga, cloud functions and other Google Cloud Services. You will solve business, operations and security challenges that arise in these developer ecosystems by proxying API traffic between provider and consumer.
Huck is looking for a lead backend engineer to architect, build, scale and deploy our API, database and ETL workflows. This position offers the rare opportunity to build out our system from the beginning. Below are some of the problems we are trying to solve:
  • Multi-attribute locality based recommendations
  • Architecting realtime and precomputed aggregate data
  • Scalable API (both performance-wise and manageability for our front end team)

Responsibilities:
  • Design Backend Architecture, API and database for the Huck App.
  • Deliver multi-cloud, loosely-coupled, distributed, and highly available platform.
  • Be the subject matter expert for the distributed data platform in a multi-cloud environment and private cloud (on-prem).
  • Be responsible for the design, deploy, and operations of the distributed data

Qualifications
  • Experience with RDBMS and NoSQL (Firebase Firestore, Cloud Firestore, and PostgreSQL/MySQL).
  • Experience with Google Cloud functions or Firebase Cloud functions handling at least 2,000,000 users and scaling
  • Experience with application deployment
  • Experience writing in TypeScript or comparable language
  • Experience with distributed data systems.
  • Experience creating the architecture for database deployments on Cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Bonus qualification:
  • Experience in AI & Machine Learning technologies
