Job description

Pay Range: $116,450 - $145,550 per year
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for overseeing the Foster Farms Environmental Management System at the Belgravia Complex, including the processing plant, feed mill, and associated live ranches. The position utilizes program management and environmental regulatory expertise to partner with operations leadership in executing company environmental standards and ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This position reports directly to the Belgravia Complex Manager and maintains indirect reporting responsibilities to the Head of Environmental Affairs.
Essential Functions:
  • Manage and execute compliance with environmental programs, including but not limited to the Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Oil Pollution Act (OPA), Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), and other applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Responsibilities include preparation and submission of Form R / A and Tier II reports, state-mandated reporting, and maintenance of required regulatory database submissions.
  • Manage and execute internal environmental compliance standards across all assigned facilities within the Belgravia Complex.
  • Monitor site performance and provide guidance to facility leadership regarding compliance with applicable environmental regulations, programs, and company policies.
  • Ensure site leadership and associates receive appropriate environmental training and maintain a clear understanding of their responsibilities under environmental policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze corporate environmental metrics and performance trends to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and enhanced environmental performance.
  • Measure and analyze site performance against environmental standards. Identify deficiencies through trend analysis, audits, and inspections, and assist sites in developing and implementing corrective action plans through documented closure.
  • Oversee environmental activities performed by external contractors and consultants to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Build collaborative relationships with plant personnel to proactively identify environmental risks and ensure timely mitigation.
  • Participate in environmental risk assessments, audits, and compliance reviews as required.
  • Maintain and update electronic LOCUS compliance database platforms for each assigned facility within the Belgravia Complex.
  • Ensure equipment requiring environmental preventive maintenance inspections (PMIs) is appropriately logged, monitored, and tracked within applicable maintenance management systems, including SAP.
  • Facilitate root cause analyses for environmental incidents and develop recommendations for corrective and preventive actions in coordination with plant management and corporate leadership.
  • Monitor and evaluate changes to state and local environmental regulations that could impact operations and ensure the organization is prepared to implement required changes and maintain compliance.
  • Participate in environmental associations and professional organizations to maintain awareness of current, proposed, and pending regulatory changes that may impact operations.
  • Manage environmental permit applications, renewals, modifications, compliance requirements, and associated documentation.
  • Serve as the primary on-site liaison with state and local regulatory agencies regarding environmental compliance matters.
  • Provide environmental subject-matter expertise, share best practices, and deliver training to support plant leadership and associates in managing environmental compliance responsibilities.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvements in environmental compliance standards, documentation processes, and training programs.
  • Support the Maintenance Manager in ensuring compliance with all wastewater treatment and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate with site leadership to facilitate spill response, remediation activities, and related environmental incident management.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Natural Science, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in environmental compliance, environmental management, manufacturing operations, or a related environmental role required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must possess strong computer skills and the ability to effectively utilize environmental compliance databases and reporting systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with team members at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, influence stakeholders across all organizational levels, foster teamwork, think creatively, and drive innovation.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required among assigned facilities within the Belgravia Complex.
