Job description

About Us:

At AMETEK, we don't just manufacture market-leading electronic instruments and electromechanical devices-we leverage innovation to make the world a better place. Our technology improves lives, and our people solve challenges that truly matter.

Job Summary:

The Compliance Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all products meet applicable global regulatory, safety, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements. This role partners closely with Product Development, Sustaining Engineering, Quality, and external certification bodies to guide products from concept through certification and market release.

The position plays a critical role in integrating compliance requirements early in the design process, coordinating certification activities, and ensuring ongoing product compliance throughout the lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with global standards and regulations, including UL, IEC, CE, FCC, CSA, RoHS, and REACH.
  • Interpret and apply regulatory requirements relevant to power electronics and battery systems, including:
    • IEC 61000 (EMC)
    • IEC 62368 / 60950 (Product Safety)
    • IEC 61800 (Drives)
    • CISPR standards for emissions
  • Lead product certification activities, including UL listing, CE marking, and other regional approvals.
  • Act as the primary interface with certification agencies such as UL, TUV, and Intertek during testing and approval processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure compliance requirements are incorporated into product designs.
  • Coordinate with Product Development and Sustaining Engineering teams to maintain ongoing compliance.
  • Manage project timelines, identify compliance risks, and proactively escalate issues when necessary.
  • Develop strong data collection processes and generate detailed compliance reports aligned with certification agency requirements and audit expectations.
  • Support audits, documentation, and regulatory reporting as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in electronic product design and manufacturing.
  • 4+ years of experience in Regulatory/Compliance Engineering or a related field.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
  • Experience with power converters, and familiarity with UL 1778 and UL 1973 standards is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of global compliance processes and certification requirements.
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and make sound technical decisions.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project schedules, assess risk, and support cross-functional teams.
  • Strong capability in data collection, analysis, and report generation to meet regulatory and certification requirements.
  • Strong sense of ownership and commitment to product quality, manufacturing processes, and customer needs.

What's in It for You:

  • Competitive compensation, including holiday pay and paid time off
  • Comprehensive benefits package: medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Flexible spending accounts (FSA) and health savings account (HSA) with company contribution
  • Life and disability insurance, and family medical leave
  • Tuition reimbursement and employee referral programs
  • Employee assistance program
  • A fast-paced, innovative environment where you can make a meaningful impact
  • Opportunities for career growth within the business unit and across AMETEK
