We're partnering with a school in Fort Bend County, TX to hire dedicated Speech Language Pathologist Assistant.
The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant supports students by providing evidence-based speech and language services that enhance communication, academic participation, and social development across school settings. This role collaborates closely with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to help students reach their full potential.
Position Details:
- Start Date: September 2026
- End Date: 5/26/27
- Schedule: Monday - Friday, school hours
- Grade Levels: HS, JH, and Elementary
- Location: In Person, 40 hours
- School Year: 2026/2027
Responsibilities:
- Deliver therapy sessions to students based on the treatment plans created by the supervising SLP.
- Work with students individually or in groups to target speech, language, and communication goals.
- Use activities and materials provided or approved by the supervising SLP.
- Collect data on student performance during therapy sessions.
- Document progress and report findings to the supervising SLP.
- Prepare therapy materials, activities, and equipment for sessions.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized therapy space.
- Help students use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices under the SLP's guidance.
- Assist in programming or troubleshooting AAC systems, as directed.
- Work closely with the supervising SLP to ensure therapy aligns with students' goals.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support students' communication needs.
- Support activities aimed at preventing communication disorders (e.g., promoting literacy or language enrichment programs).
- Help advocate for inclusive practices that support students with communication challenges.
Qualifications:
- State License: Active Texas Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) license issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
- Education: Bachelor's degree (or higher) with an emphasis in Communication Sciences & Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology, or a degree that includes the required SLPA coursework.
- Coursework: Minimum of 24 semester credit hours in speech-language pathology and/or audiology, including coursework in language disorders and speech disorders.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students across elementary, junior high, and high school settings.
- Commitment to ethical practice and professional growth.
