Job Title: Data Security Engineer IIRole Overview

We are seeking aย Data Security Engineer IIย to support and enhance enterprise data protection initiatives. In this role, you will develop deep expertise in data security platforms such as Microsoft Purview and Securiti.ai, leveraging these tools to strengthen data loss prevention (DLP) and data classification programs across structured and unstructured data environments.

You will play a key role in identifying risks, closing security gaps, and implementing scalable solutions to protect sensitive information across the organization.


Key Responsibilities
  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering, security, and business teams to drive data protection initiatives.
  • Act as an individual contributor to deliver projects while coordinating with managed service providers (MSPs).
  • Develop and maintain data classification frameworks, including sensitivity labeling and governance policies.
  • Design and implement data discovery and labeling strategies across enterprise systems.
  • Configure and optimize DLP policies to detect, prevent, and respond to data exfiltration risks.
  • Analyze data security events to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement.
  • Conduct remediation efforts related to inappropriate data access and exposure.
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory compliance requirements and internal data governance standards.
  • Continuously review and improve DLP rules to reduce false positives and enhance detection accuracy.
  • Stay current with emerging data security trends, tools, and best practices.

Required Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience analyzing and working with large datasets from multiple sources using investigative and analytical tools.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Data Loss Prevention (DLP) concepts and lifecycle
    • Data classification and labeling methodologies
    • Networking fundamentals, including the OSI model
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining DLP policies and rules.
  • Ability to translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable insights (reports, dashboards, presentations).
  • Proven ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential data with discretion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and risk mitigation.
