Monticello is recognized as a National Historic Landmark, a United Nations World Heritage Site and a Site of Conscience.
Graphic Designer amp; Digital Marketing Creator (Full-time)
Purpose:
The Graphic Designer amp; Digital Marketing Creator will design and execute key marketing programs across multiple timelines throughout Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello. The ideal candidate is a results-driven and detail-oriented, creative individual able to work autonomously and collaboratively. Teamwork, clear communication and flexibility are essential to adequately perform the job. In addition to designing print and web collateral, this role includes creating original and engaging digital marketing content to maximize customer engagement and drive sales. The Graphic Designer amp; Digital Marketing Creator will collaborate across departments to develop, produce, and support digital marketing initiatives, increasing engagement with the Foundation’s visitors, customers, and donors.

Compensation:
$59,000 - $66,000
We will look to you to:
  • Take a lead role in the design and production of print and digital marketing materials including emails, web assets, social media posts, promotional flyers, product packaging, store signage, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with multiple teams to develop and create editorial content for emails, social media, and story-driven marketing materials, product and brand descriptions and features, etc.
  • Manage and grow both the Retail and Jefferson Vineyards email marketing programs.
  • Assist with content management to include banner creation, product promotion, and content creation.
  • Become proficient in and assist with all aspects of digital marketing to include SEO, Paid Search, Affiliate, Amazon Marketplace, etc.
  • Contribute to planning and strategy of marketing efforts in collaboration with multiple departments at the Foundation.
  • Work with print vendors for print production, estimates and timelines.
  • Coordinate across departments to collect data, copy, and assets needed to complete projects.
  • Assist with management of the Foundation’s Social Media (Facebook, Twitter and others) and Marketing video channels, such as YouTube.
  • Plan, design, and schedule delivery of Shop and Jefferson Vineyards emails.
  • Create and activate coupon codes and execute pricing discounts in promotion management systems.
  • Plan, create, and optimize digital advertisements.
  • Monitor, identify, and analyze key online trends and implement marketing activities based on findings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications or similar field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a professional graphic design role managing multiple design projects with strict deadlines; preferably hands-on experience in a fast-paced agency environment.
  • Expert knowledge of current version of Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), responsive HTML5 and CSS, and Microsoft Office.
  • Copywriting skills is a plus.
  • Fine arts materials and retail industry knowledge preferred.
  • Understanding and experience with utilizing email marketing platforms, social media platforms and other digital marketing tools.
  • Ability to follow and maintain Monticello’s established branding and design aesthetic based on brand guidelines.
  • Proven experience in print and digital design, retail layouts preferred.
  • Proficiency in print production and file prep of multipage publications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding time-management skills across a fast-paced work environment and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in social media and email marketing strategy, concepts and trends.
  • Interest in staying abreast of design, visual marketing, and e-commerce trends.
  • Ability to work autonomously on assigned projects and act as your own project manager.
  • Ability to collaborate with all departments designing, planning, and executing marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Creative thinker, problem solver and innovator - ability to translate concepts into design as well as contribute to and communicate those ideas.
Physical Demands and Work Considerations:
  • Must be able to work at a computer station for extended periods of time.
  • Will occasionally be required to work non-standard business hours to monitor and act on social media issues that are time sensitive.
  • Monticello is located on a mountaintop; walking on steep inclines, and uneven, rocky ground is required, regardless of where primary office is located.
