Position Information

Position Title

Position Title Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Small Animal Internal Medicine

Job Summary

The successful candidate will contribute to the College’s tripartite mission of teaching, research, and service, with a primary focus on teaching veterinary students, graduate students, and graduate veterinarians in all aspects of small animal internal medicine. Clinical service responsibilities will be primarily within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital ( VTH ), providing high-quality, compassionate care for patients while engaging students in hands- on learning.

  • Deliver engaging classroom, clinical, and laboratory instruction to veterinary students, graduate students, and interns.
  • Provide expert consultation and clinical service in Small Animal Internal Medicine within the VTH .
  • Participate in Emergency/After-hour service, and expected to support the Community Practice Section.
  • Mentor students, interns, and graduate veterinarians, supporting their academic and professional development.
  • Engage in teaching across all four years of the veterinary curriculum, from foundational sciences to advanced clinical practice.
  • Develop innovative teaching, service, and outreach programs that enhance the Department and College.
  • Participate in collaborative research and creative scholarship at the College, the University, and with external partners.
  • Contribute to community service and outreach consistent with TUCVM’s mission and serving the region through our VTH .
  • All other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ACVIM or ECVIM ( SAIM ) board certification strongly preferred.
  • Candidates who are residency-trained or have significant clinical experience in small animal internal medicine will also be considered.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to use a computer terminal
  • Ability to be mobile throughout the hospital
  • Ability to lift and carry parcels, packages and other items
