Description
The College of Arts and Sciences at Georgetown University invites applications for the Bertrand Chair in Computer Science. The Bertrand Chair is an endowed chair for a computer science scholar working in the area of artificial intelligence (AI). To hold this position, the candidate must be eligible for an appointment at the rank of Professor in the Department of Computer Science.
We seek a world-class AI researcher, a computer scientist with a record of technical innovation and a clear-eyed vision for how AI is shaping the world. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished scholar with a demonstrated track record of high-impact, original research with an orientation toward AI and its impact on society, as well as a distinguished teaching record. Georgetown is deeply committed to scholarship on the relationship between technology and society and has built institutions to support this work as part of the Tech and Society Initiative. In this position within Computer Science, we are looking for a dynamic leader who will bring expertise in cutting-edge AI technologies and bridge their research agenda with the core Georgetown values of impactful scholarship, global reach, and social justice. In addition to research, the position carries teaching responsibilities at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
Our faculty perform research in four core areas of computer science: (i) theory and algorithms, (ii) artificial intelligence, machine learning, information retrieval, and data mining, (iii) security, cryptography, and privacy, and (iv) systems, networking, and architecture, with strong interdisciplinary connections to fields such as data science, linguistics, law, health, and public policy.
We are located in Washington, D.C., a global hub for policy, technology, and research, offering unique opportunities for collaboration with government agencies, non-profits, and industry partners.

The projected base salary range for this position is $304,233.30-421,281.40. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
