Job description

We are seeking a CAD Drafter to join our production team and create detailed manufacturing

drawings for custom iron entry doors. You will take field measurements, customer-approved

door specifications, and design selections and translate them into precise fabrication drawings

that drive our welding, cutting, and assembly floor. This is a hands-on drafting role in a

fast-paced manufacturing environment where accuracy directly impacts production throughput

and quality.

Key Responsibilities

■ Produce detailed CAD drawings for custom iron entry doors including dimensions, panel

layouts, glass placement, hardware locations, and fabrication specifications

■ Convert field measurements and customer door-detail selections into accurate,

production-ready drawings

■ Apply complexity-tier estimating (S / M / C / X) to plan and track drawing completion times

■ Coordinate with the Door Details team to ensure all job information is complete and

CAD-ready before drawings begin

■ Manage a daily queue of jobs with named assignments, job numbers, status tracking, and

release timing

■ Participate in three daily check-ins (7:30 AM, 12:30 PM, 4:30 PM) to report work in progress,

blockers, and ready jobs

■ Ensure all horizontal members, rails, and transoms are dimensioned from finished floor with

proper sight-line flags

■ Release completed drawings to Fabrication with manager sign-off and verify critical

dimensions

■ Maintain drawing standards for pre-hung, leveled, and squared door units

■ Support continuous improvement of drawing templates, standards, and turnaround speed

Qualifications

■ 2+ years of CAD drafting experience in manufacturing, construction, metal fabrication, or

architectural products

■ Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent 2D/3D CAD software

■ Ability to read and create detailed mechanical/manufacturing drawings with accurate

dimensions and tolerances

■ Experience with architectural door, window, or metal fabrication drawings is a strong plus

■ Strong attention to detail with the ability to catch dimension errors before drawings reach the

floor

■ Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment with daily throughput targets

■ Self-motivated with strong time management and the ability to manage multiple jobs

simultaneously

■ High school diploma or equivalent required; technical drafting certification or associate

degree preferred
