Position Overview

This position is accountable for developing, drafting, and publishing the Highway Standards Drawings.

Essential Functions
  • Develops, prepares, and publishes the Highway Standard Drawings.
  • Provides liaison for contractors, manufacturers, and material associations.
  • Makes presentations to explain new/revised standards.
  • Directs, organizes, develops, and motivates personnel to accomplish department objectives in theStandards and Specifications Unit.
  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a mannerconducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois OR currentregistration as a Licensed Structural Engineer in the state of Illinois.
  • Five years of experience in civil engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of construction concepts.
  • Working knowledge of CADD.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
Conditions of Employment
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Statewide and occasional out-of-state travel with overnight stays.
  • Successful completion of a background screening.
