Job description
Company Description: Total InCharge is focused on advancing electric vehicle (EV) adoption by expanding reliable, high-performing charging infrastructure. The organization partners with public agencies, utilities, and private developers to design, deploy, and optimize EV charging sites that meet community, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Total InCharge emphasizes technical excellence, safety, and user experience, with particular attention to the impact of EV infrastructure on surrounding neighborhoods. The company values collaboration with licensed professionals to ensure projects are compliant, sustainable, and aligned with local standards and expectations.
Role Description: The Freelance California PE – EV Infrastructure Noise & Vibration Consultant is a full-time, on-site role based in Orange County, CA. This role focuses on assessing, modeling, and mitigating noise and vibration impacts associated with EV charging facilities and related electrical infrastructure. Day-to-day work includes conducting site evaluations, reviewing design documents, performing technical analyses, and preparing professional engineering reports that comply with California codes and local ordinances. The consultant collaborates with internal project teams, architects, civil and electrical engineers, and local authorities to recommend design modifications or mitigation measures that address community and regulatory concerns. Responsibilities also include providing stamped documentation where required, participating in stakeholder meetings, and supporting permitting and approval processes for new or upgraded EV infrastructure projects.
Qualifications:
- Active California Professional Engineer (PE) license in a relevant discipline (e.g., civil, mechanical, electrical) and eligibility to sign and stamp engineering documents.
- Demonstrated experience in noise and vibration analysis for infrastructure, transportation, or energy projects, including modeling, measurement, and mitigation design.
- Strong knowledge of California building codes, environmental regulations (e.g., CEQA-related considerations), and local noise ordinances applicable to EV and electrical infrastructure.
- Proficiency with industry-standard tools and software for acoustic and vibration assessment, as well as comfort interpreting data, charts, and technical specifications.
- Ability to collaborate on interdisciplinary project teams, communicate complex technical findings to non-technical stakeholders, and participate in public or regulatory meetings as needed.
- Experience working on-site at active or planned infrastructure projects, with a commitment to safety practices and field data collection protocols.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical, or related field); advanced degrees or specialized training in acoustics or vibration engineering are beneficial.
- Prior involvement in EV infrastructure, transportation electrification, or utility-scale projects is a plus, along with familiarity with utility coordination and permitting processes.
