About the role

TRM Labs is looking for a Senior Communications & Publicity Marketing Manager, Talent Brand to build and expand the external profile of TRM's CEO and senior leaders among high-priority talent and investor audiences, including the world's best builders, engineers, AI researchers, and mission-driven operators.

This is a full-time contract role intended to provide immediate senior-level execution and ownership while TRM scales through a high-growth period.

This is not a traditional employer brand, demand generation, or content-production, or conventional corporate PR role. TRM is looking for a hands-on communications and publicity marketer who can build executive visibility through top-tier podcasts, speaking opportunities, social and creator-led platforms, nontraditional earned channels, strategic partnerships, and high-impact storytelling. Traditional media remains valuable but is not the primary focus of this role.

You will help turn TRM’s company momentum, founder perspectives, announcements, events, and mission into sustained external visibility. The right person knows how to identify the right channels and relationships, develop a compelling angle, pitch it effectively, and translate the resulting opportunities into measurable reach and engagement.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong communications judgment with resourceful execution. You should be comfortable building from scratch, working directly with senior stakeholders, developing external relationships, and moving quickly from idea to outreach to measurable results.

Please note

  • This is an immediate need. Candidates should be available to interview right away and start shortly after selection.
  • This is a full-time contract role, with an expected workload of 40 hours per week.
  • Candidates must be able to maintain meaningful overlap with U.S. time zones while collaborating with globally distributed teams.
  • This contract role has the potential to convert to a full-time position based on performance, fit, business needs, and alignment with TRM’s mission.

What you’ll do

  • Build and execute an executive-profile strategy that increases visibility, credibility, and influence of TRM's CEO and senior leaders among priority talent and investor audiences.
  • Identify, pitch, and secure high-value podcast appearances, speaking opportunities, social and creator-led features, newsletters, conferences, communities, and other nontraditional earned opportunities for TRM's CEO and senior leaders.
  • Develop relationships with podcast producers, journalists, creators, influencers, community leaders, and other external partners.
  • Build and manage influencer, creator, and brand partnerships that extend TRM’s reach among high-priority audiences.
  • Develop compelling story angles, pitches, talking points, executive messaging, and supporting materials for external opportunities.
  • Create social amplification strategies around company announcements, founder perspectives, events, media placements, and major company moments.
  • Partner with founders and senior leaders to translate their expertise and perspectives into timely, relevant external narratives.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Communications, People, Content, R&D, and external PR or creative partners to coordinate campaigns and opportunities.
  • Support event and conference visibility through speaker positioning, pre-event promotion, live amplification, content capture, and post-event follow-up.
  • Turn earned-media placements, interviews, podcasts, events, and announcements into additional social, newsletter, community, and campaign opportunities.
  • Identify and coordinate external vendors, freelancers, creators, or specialist partners when needed to execute quickly.
  • Track outcomes such as media and podcast placements, partnership reach, executive visibility, audience growth, engagement, share of voice, and candidate interest.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate research, outreach development, content adaptation, campaign planning, and execution without sacrificing judgment or quality.

What we’re looking for

  • 7+ years of experience across communications marketing, publicity, earned media, social marketing, influencer partnerships, brand communications, integrated marketing, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience personally building or materially elevating a founder's or CEO's external profile over time, with specific examples of opportunities secured, channels activated, and resulting audience or business impact.
  • Tangible examples of personally securing meaningful podcast appearances, speaking opportunities, social or creator-led visibility, nontraditional earned placements, or other high-impact opportunities for founders and executives.
  • Experience building and managing influencer, creator, community, or brand partnerships.
  • Proven ability to develop a compelling story angle and pitch it effectively to external partners, producers, journalists, creators, or industry stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of earned, social, owned, and partnership-driven distribution.
  • Experience positioning founders, executives, or subject-matter experts for external visibility.
  • Strong writing and editorial judgment across pitches, executive messaging, social content, talking points, campaign copy, and external communications.
  • Ability to translate complex, technical, or mission-driven subject matter into clear and compelling stories.
  • Experience developing social amplification strategies around announcements, events, executive perspectives, and earned-media placements.
  • Strong relationship-building and outreach skills, with the persistence and judgment required to open high-value external opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect communications and publicity activity to tangible outcomes such as placements, audience reach, engagement, partnerships, share of voice, or brand awareness.
  • Ability to operate autonomously in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment and create momentum without a mature playbook.
  • Strong AI fluency, using tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Descript, Canva AI, or similar platforms to materially increase speed and effectiveness.
  • Ability to collaborate across Marketing, Communications, People, R&D, Founders, and external partners without requiring heavy oversight.

Strong-fit backgrounds may include

  • Senior communications or publicity marketer at a high-growth startup.
  • Brand communications or earned-media lead with strong hands-on execution experience.
  • Social and influence marketing leader who has built meaningful creator, influencer, or brand partnerships.
  • Founder communications or executive-visibility specialist.
  • Integrated communications marketer with experience spanning PR, social, podcasts, events, partnerships, and executive positioning.
  • Agency-side communications or publicity professional who has worked directly with founders, executives, technical companies, or mission-driven brands.
  • Startup marketing operator who has successfully secured external visibility and built relationships across media, podcasts, creators, and industry communities.
  • Experience in cybersecurity, fintech, crypto, AI, devtools, data, national security, or another complex technical industry is a plus, but not required.

This may not be the right fit if you

  • Are primarily a demand generation, lifecycle, ABM, paid media, or performance marketing specialist.
  • Are strongest at repurposing existing content but have limited experience actively creating publicity, partnership, podcast, or earned-media opportunities.
  • Are a pure content writer or content strategist without external outreach and relationship-building experience.
  • Have primarily worked in traditional employer brand roles focused on career sites, job descriptions, recruiting campaigns, or internal content.
  • Are only interested in strategy and do not want to personally pitch, write, coordinate, follow up, and execute.
  • Are uncomfortable directly approaching podcast producers, journalists, creators, influencers, executives, or partnership targets.
  • Prefer a narrow, clearly defined scope or require an established playbook before creating momentum.

What success looks like

Success in this role means building a distinctive and credible external profile for TRM's CEO and senior leaders, converting their expertise, perspectives, and company momentum into meaningful visibility among talent and investor audiences.

You will help TRM:

  • Secure relevant and high-value podcast appearances, speaking opportunities, social and creator-led features, and other nontraditional earned placements for TRM's CEO and senior leaders.
  • Build productive influencer, creator, community, and brand partnerships.
  • Increase the visibility and credibility of TRM and its leaders among high-priority talent audiences.
  • Create stronger social amplification around announcements, events, media placements, and executive perspectives.
  • Develop repeatable systems for identifying, pitching, securing, and maximizing external opportunities.
  • Produce measurable improvements in audience reach, engagement, share of voice, external placements, partnership impact, and candidate awareness.
  • Ensure that each interview, event, announcement, or company moment generates value across multiple channels and audiences.

Working style

TRM is fast-moving, high-ownership, AI-forward, and highly collaborative. The right person will be comfortable building from scratch, working asynchronously, using AI aggressively, and partnering directly with senior stakeholders.

This role is ideal for someone who brings strong communications instincts, excellent judgment, persistence, scrappy execution, and the ability to turn company momentum into sustained visibility.
