A-TEK is seeking an Audio/Visual (A/V) Engineer 2 to support our Federal Customer in Montgomery County, MD.  AV Engineer 2 is responsible for assisting with designing, installing, configuring, testing, commissioning, and supporting professional audio-visual systems for the federal government. This requires strong technical expertise in AV technologies, networking, video conferencing, and system integration and troubleshooting. Ability to obtain and retain a public trust level clearance is required for consideration. This is a hybrid position based in Rockville, MD.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement AV systems for conference rooms, classrooms, auditoriums, and event spaces.
  • Install and configure displays, projectors, LED walls, speakers, microphones, DSPs, cameras, and control systems.
  • Configure video conferencing platforms such as Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, Cisco Webex.
  • Provide support to operations and support teams, including root cause analysis, when conference room A/V issues arise
  • Basic programming and troubleshoot AV control systems (Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Shure, Evertz, or Biamp).
  • Install, terminate, test, and certify AV cabling (HDMI, CAT6, SDI, XLR).
  • Commission and test integrated AV systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Update system documentation, rack elevations, wiring diagrams, and as-built drawings.
  • Provide technical support and user training.
  • Coordinate with project managers, electricians, IT teams, and contractors.
  • Maintain equipment inventory and service records.
  • Perform A/V system deployments, including hardware and software
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or associate degree in Audio Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in AV installation, integration, or support.
  • Experience with AV system commissioning and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of:
