Job description

Overview
The Website Support Intern will support the Office of Communications and Marketing at the Harbert College of Business by assisting with day-to-day website updates, quality assurance, and digital content organization. This role offers hands-on experience with web content management, accessibility tools, and higher education marketing work-flows. Ideal candidates will have a strong attention to detail, an interest in digital communications and a willingness to learn web publishing tools.
This position reports to the Webmaster/Senior App Systems Analysts within the Harbert's Office of Communication and Marketing on the 5th floor of Lowder Hall. The student will receive ongoing guidance and project assignments through regular check-ins, task management tools (such as Asana), and collaborative planning sessions. While some tasks may be independent, work will be closely monitored for accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with college branding and accessibility standards.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in updating and publishing content across the Harbert website using the CMS (e.g. editing pages, uploading images, formatting text)
  • Monitor for and report broken links, misspellings, and outdated content using tools like SiteImprove.
  • Support accessibility improvements by reviewing flagged issues and implementing basic fixes (e.g. alt text, heading structure)
  • Conduct regular audits of web pages to ensure consistency in branding, formatting, and SEO best practices.
  • Help maintain the faculty and staff directory by updating bios, head-shots, and job titles.
  • Organize and tag content within the CMS to align with strategic taxonomy and improve search functionality.
  • Assist with testing page layouts, user flows, and functionality across mobile and desktop devices.
  • Provide general support for digital projects related to marketing and communications.

Enrolled student at Auburn University.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow brand and editorial guidelines.
  • Familiarity with website editing tools or content management systems (CMS).
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and other web formatting concepts.
