Job description

Senior FX Trading System Engineer – AVP

Position Overview:

As a Senior FX Trading System Engineer in the New York Trade Floor Support team, you will play a key role in monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing the bank’s critical technology infrastructure that supports industry‑leading FX single‑dealer trading and algorithmic platforms. You will troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, minimize operational disruptions, and build partnerships with business stakeholders to ensure seamless trading operations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for the service management function, resolving more complex issues for a specific client or group of clients.
  • Develop and improve the support model and service offering to enhance service to customers and stakeholders.
  • Execute preventative maintenance tasks on hardware and software and utilize monitoring tools/metrics to identify, prevent and address potential issues, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Maintain a knowledge base containing detailed documentation of resolved cases for future reference, self‑service opportunities and knowledge sharing.
  • Analyze system logs, error messages and user reports to identify root causes of hardware, software and network issues, providing resolution by fixing or replacing faulty hardware, reinstalling software or applying configuration changes.
  • Automate monitoring enhancements, capacity management, resiliency, business continuity management, front‑office specific support and stakeholder management.
  • Identify and remediate or raise potential service‑impacting risks and issues through appropriate processes.
  • Proactively assess support activities and implement automations to maintain stability and drive efficiency.
  • Actively tune monitoring tools, thresholds and alerting to ensure issues are known when they occur.
Leadership & Management Expectations

Assist Vice President responsibilities include:

  • Advise and influence decision‑making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with other functions/business divisions.

Technical & Professional Qualifications
  • Considerable knowledge of electronic trading platforms and FX market workflows, including trade lifecycle management, pricing and risk management processes.
  • Experience supporting FIX protocol and ECN connectivity.
  • Practical experience with scripting and automation using Shell, Python and Perl, and database querying and scripting.
  • Solid experience supporting and managing cloud‑based applications and infrastructure, particularly within AWS environments.
  • Proficiency in using enterprise support and monitoring tools, including AutoSys, ServiceFirst and ITRS Geneos.
