Job Description:The client is seeking a hands-on Social Media Manager and Strategist to grow a cinema-focused social platform through data-driven strategy, community engagement, and original content creation.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Own and execute the social media growth strategy for a film-focused media brand, with a primary focus on Instagram.
  • Build and scale an engaged community of film lovers through organic audience growth, content strategy, and community engagement.
  • Define measurable growth goals, KPIs, and testing frameworks, and continuously optimize performance using analytics and experimentation.
  • Provide strategic leadership, creative direction, and actionable feedback to a team of content creators.
  • Identify opportunities to capitalize on emerging conversations in independent film, cinema culture, festivals, filmmakers, and online film communities.
  • Develop recurring content series and editorial initiatives that increase audience engagement and long-term community growth.
  • Attend film screenings, premieres, festivals, activations, and industry events throughout Los Angeles to create content and stay connected to the film community.
  • Build relationships with filmmakers, creators, distributors, exhibitors, and other voices within the independent film ecosystem.
  • Produce social content as needed, including short-form video, photography, and on-camera content.
  • Help establish SuperCinema as a leading destination for discovering independent films and participating in film culture.

Minimum Requirements

  • Demonstrated success building and growing an Instagram, TikTok, or other social media account focused on independent film, cinema, film criticism, movie discovery, or film culture.
  • 3 years of experience developing and executing organic social media strategy with significant measurable audience growth (30k folowers).
  • Proven track record of growing engaged social communities through experimentation, analytics, and data-driven decision making.
  • Deep understanding of Instagram's ecosystem, audience behavior, content formats, and organic growth strategies.
  • Ability to define KPIs, develop testing roadmaps, analyze performance, and adjust strategy based on results.
  • Genuine passion for independent film, cinema culture, filmmakers, festivals, and the movie-going experience.
  • Strong familiarity with today's film community, including independent distributors, festivals, creators, publications, and online film conversations.
  • Experience developing editorial strategy and providing creative direction to content creators or creative teams.
  • Comfortable creating social-first video content, editing short-form content, and appearing on camera when appropriate.
  • Based in the Los Angeles area and available to attend screenings, premieres, festivals, and industry events as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the film and creator communities.
  • Self-directed, entrepreneurial, and excited to build a growing media brand from the ground up.
  • Able to provide your own content creation equipment (camera, phone, editing software, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience growing a film-focused Instagram, TikTok, or other social account.

  • Existing personal social presence centered around film or cinema culture.

  • Established relationships within the Los Angeles film, filmmaker, or creator community.

  • Experience working as a freelancer, independent creator, or within a lean content team.

  • Portfolio or examples of social accounts personally grown through organic strategy.
