Flight Nurse

The posted salary range represents the expected pay for this role at the time of posting and is provided for transparency. Actual compensation, if an offer is made, will depend on factors such as skills, experience, education, and overall qualifications.

Position Summary

The Flight Nurse administers advanced life support and critical care during emergent and non-emergent transports. Working alongside flight crew and healthcare partners, this role requires exceptional clinical judgment, strong teamwork, and the ability to perform under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver advanced life support and critical care in helicopter, fixed-wing, and ground transport settings
  • Operate within established medical protocols and physician direction
  • Serve as a clinical leader in field and hospital environments
  • Complete accurate and timely electronic Patient Care Reports
  • Maintain aircraft and ambulance readiness, equipment, and infection control standards
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, hospitals, and partner agencies
  • Participate in quality assurance, training, and continuing education
  • Uphold strict patient privacy standards and professional conduct

Schedule & Work Environment

  • 24-hour shift rotation: 24 on / 24 off / 24 on / 5 days off
  • Nights, weekends, and holidays required
  • Exposure to varied environmental conditions and high-stress emergency situations
  • Must meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 125 lbs

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program
  • Must hold (or be eligible to obtain) an Oregon RN License

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' current experience in Emergency Department (ED) or ICU
  • Prior Flight Nurse or Flight Paramedic experience preferred

Licenses & Certifications

  • Oregon Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS or PEPP
  • Oregon Driver's License (within 30 days if relocating)
  • CFRN (Certified Flight RN) – required within 18 months (exam required within 12 months)
  • NRP – required within 12 months
  • TPATC – required within 18 months
  • Completion of company-approved critical care training within 12 months
  • Oregon EMT or Paramedic license preferred
