Job description

Position Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA/GNA) Instructor & Program Coordinator is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and general oversight of the administration of the CNA Training Program. This dual-role position includes classroom and clinical instruction, student mentorship, and program coordination to ensure full compliance with Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) and regulatory requirements. This role prepares students for state certification while fostering a supportive, engaging learning environment that promotes student success in the healthcare field.

 Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Education

  • Deliver engaging and comprehensive instruction in both classroom theory and clinical skills
  • Prepare students for the Maryland CNA/GNA certification exams (MBON requirements)
  • Develop, implement, and update curriculum aligned with state and regulatory standards
  • Evaluate student performance through testing, skills validation, and clinical assessments
  • Provide feedback, academic coaching, and remediation support as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and competencies 

Program Coordination & Oversight 

  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of the CNA training program
  • Ensure program compliance with MBON and applicable federal regulations
  • Schedule classes, instructors, and clinical rotations
  • Monitor program outcomes, including graduation rates and exam pass rates
  • Serve as liaison between students, faculty, clinical sites, and regulatory bodies
  • Manage documentation required for audits, approvals, and accreditation 

Clinical & Student Support 

  • Supervise students in clinical settings, ensuring safe and competent care delivery
  • Promote a positive and professional learning environment
  • Address student concerns, performance issues, and disciplinary actions when needed
  • Support student career readiness, including job placement guidance where applicable

Administrative Duties 

  • Maintain program records, reports, and compliance documentation
  • Participate in program evaluation and continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Assist with recruitment, admissions, and onboarding of new students
  • Ensure instructional materials, equipment, and lab environments meet standards

Qualifications 

  • Current Maryland-licensed Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Active license in good standing with the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON)
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in long-term care experience.
  • Prior Adult teaching and training experience or completion of a Train the Trainer Course in Adult learning principles required.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Providers BLS.
  • Knowledge of Maryland CNA/GNA regulations and accreditation standards preferred.
  • Experience teaching or patient care in an acute care setting in the past five years preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
