Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The BSA Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and performance of the Credit Union’s Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), suspicious activity monitoring, and regulatory reporting programs. This role supports the Fraud Manager/BSA Officer in maintaining a comprehensive and effective BSA/AML and OFAC compliance program by supervising BSA staff, managing workflow and alert investigations, reviewing regulatory filings, assisting with risk assessments, supporting internal and external audits and examinations, and delivering guidance, coaching, and training to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Credit Union policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SUPPORTING DUTIES:

  • Supervise daily BSA/AML and OFAC monitoring activities, including alert reviews, case management, and escalations.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to BSA staff to ensure regulatory compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Oversee investigations involving suspicious activity, high-risk accounts, and unusual transaction activity.
  • Review BSA cases, SAR narratives, CTRs, and supporting documentation for quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide guidance on escalated sanctions and information-sharing matters.
  • Support compliance with OFAC, 314(a), and 314(b) requirements and related procedures.
  • Coordinate and support BSA/AML, OFAC, and financial crimes training initiatives.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop BSA staff to support departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Required Education: A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study in a similar or related field. 

Certification:

  • Certifications such as Bank Secrecy Act Compliance Specialist (BSACS), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or Certified Financial Crime Specialist (CFCS).
  • Candidate must earn a professional certification [e.g., Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) Certified Financial Crime Specialist (CFCS) within 24 months of employment.

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field.

Required Experience: 3 to 5 years of related experience with financial crimes, fraud prevention, fraud risk management, and the BSA/AML and OFAC.

  • Knowledge of financial institutions and products and services offered.

Preferred Experience: Prior experience in a supervisory role of one-year or more.
