How will you make an impact in this role?

Positions in Risk Management lead the development of credit, operational, enterprise, and fraud policies designed to profitably grow the portfolio, while ensuring excellent customer experience. These policies utilize mathematical models and other techniques to understand and predict customer behavior. At the manager level, the employee does not have a people leadership role but is often viewed as an emerging expert in the field. Focuses on resolution of complex problems. Conducts analyses, recommends changes to policies, and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization.

This position is part of Credit and Fraud Risk Organization, focused on Commercial New Accounts Underwriting. The role brings an exciting opportunity to innovatively define Client and Card Member Onboarding experience while reducing the early tenure credit losses for Middle to Large and Global Clients. The role is highly visible and will require strong collaboration across a variety of functions, including but not limited to Risk, Technology, Decision Science, Product, Marketing, Sales etc to develop best in class strategies and capabilities to support our customers.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Own end to end capability roadmap for transformation of existing Client acquisition journeys

  • Conduct data analysis for quantitatively designing profitable Client/Card Member acquisition frameworks and strategies with a keen focus on portfolio growth

  • Manage data strategy, data contribution policy, and relationships with strategic third-party data providers.

  • Identify, evaluate, and integrate new data sources and capabilities into decision-making

  • Lead with an external focus, track developments in the marketplace to understand industry best practices

  • Develop and continuously enhance policies, processes, and controls for mitigating credit risk exposure and preventing fraud

  • Continuously monitor new account performance and react quickly to potential/emerging issues

  • Collaborate with colleagues across the enterprise to leverage partnerships, data, and services to drive innovative solutions to business challenges

  • Maintain an effective control environment and respond to operational breakdowns with discipline

  • Effectively communicate strategies to a broad spectrum of audience including senior leadership

  • Drive operational excellence and ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MS, PhD, or MBA) in a quantitative field such as Econometrics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, or Computer Science

  • Advanced degree is preferred but not required given a suitable combination of formal education and work experience

  • Credit/Fraud risk management experience and understanding of credit lifecycle is preferred

  • Blend of analytical skills, process expertise, project management, and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to handle large datasets using SAS, SQL, R, Python or another similar programming language

  • Thought leadership and solution-oriented mindset

  • Ability to think strategically and apply both quantitative methods and business insights to drive results

  • Ability to build strong relationships in a cross-functional environment

  • Clear, effective written and oral communication skills
