What does a fraud review analyst do?

A Fraud Review Analyst is responsible for analyzing financial transactions or activities to detect and prevent fraudulent behavior. They review suspicious transactions, investigate alerts, and assess risk factors using specialized tools and data analysis. Their work helps organizations minimize financial losses and protect customers from fraud. Additionally, Fraud Review Analysts often collaborate with other departments, document findings, and may assist in developing fraud prevention strategies.

How does a fraud review analyst typically collaborate with other departments to resolve suspicious transactions?

Fraud Review Analysts frequently work closely with teams such as customer service, compliance, and risk management to thoroughly investigate and resolve suspicious transactions. They may communicate directly with customer service representatives to gather additional information or clarify account activity, and coordinate with compliance teams to ensure all actions adhere to regulatory requirements. This collaborative approach helps ensure that potential fraud cases are addressed efficiently, and legitimate customers experience minimal disruption. Effective communication and teamwork are essential in this role, as analysts often need to provide clear documentation and recommendations to support decision-making across departments.

Familiarity with fraud detection software, case management systems, and data analysis tools like Excel or SQL is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and a high level of integrity are critical soft skills for effectively investigating suspicious activities. These skills and qualities are essential for accurately identifying fraudulent transactions, minimizing financial losses, and maintaining customer trust.

How much does a fraud review analyst get paid?

The average salary for a fraud review analyst ranges from $40,000 to $70,000 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer. Entry-level positions may start lower, while experienced analysts with certifications can earn higher salaries. Many roles also offer benefits such as health insurance and opportunities for career advancement.
