What is a framer hanger?

Framer hangers, often referred to as drywall hangers or framers, are skilled tradespeople who install framing materials such as wood or metal studs and hang drywall or other materials to create the skeleton and walls of buildings. Their duties include measuring, cutting, and assembling framing components, ensuring structures are level and secure, and sometimes installing insulation and sheathing. Framer hangers play a crucial role in both residential and commercial construction projects, helping to shape the basic structure of houses, offices, and other buildings.

To thrive as a Framer Hanger, you need proficiency in construction techniques, blueprint reading, and basic math, usually backed by a high school diploma or equivalent and on-the-job training. Familiarity with hand and power tools, measuring devices, and sometimes OSHA safety certifications is typically required. Attention to detail, physical stamina, teamwork, and problem-solving are crucial soft skills for this role. These skills ensure precise and safe installation of framing structures, contributing to the overall integrity and success of building projects.
