What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Fractional Risk Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fractional Risk Manager, you need a solid background in risk assessment, compliance, and operational controls, typically supported by a degree in finance, business, or a related field. Proficiency with risk management frameworks, regulatory compliance software, and tools like GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) systems is highly valuable. Strong analytical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to quickly adapt to different organizational cultures make someone stand out in this role. These skills are crucial for effectively identifying and mitigating risks while integrating seamlessly into various client environments on a part-time or contract basis.

How does a Fractional Risk Manager typically integrate with existing teams and processes within an organization?

A Fractional Risk Manager often works on a part-time or contract basis, collaborating closely with leadership and cross-functional teams such as compliance, finance, and operations. They quickly assess current risk frameworks, identify gaps, and implement tailored strategies without disrupting established workflows. Open communication and regular check-ins help them stay aligned with team goals while providing specialized expertise. This flexible arrangement benefits organizations that require high-level risk management guidance but may not need or afford a full-time role.

What is a Fractional Risk Management professional?

A Fractional Risk Management professional is an expert who provides risk management services to organizations on a part-time or contract basis rather than as a full-time, permanent employee. They help businesses identify, assess, and mitigate various risks, such as financial, operational, strategic, or compliance risks. This flexible arrangement allows companies—especially small and mid-sized businesses—to access high-level risk management expertise without the cost of a full-time executive. Fractional risk managers may work remotely or on-site and often serve multiple clients at once. Their services can include policy development, risk assessments, training, and assisting with regulatory compliance.

Fractional Security Team Coordinator

Fortis

Greenville, SC

Part-time

Job description

Vision - Inspired by God's masterful care and working for His glory, Fortis is creating a legendary level of service for secure private travel.

Values - We value welcoming challenges, caring like a 5-star concierge, bringing truth, beauty, and goodness into our corner of God's world, setting the thermostat to joy, and believing we are just getting started.

The Fractional Security Coordinator is a deployable, client-facing professional who plans and runs secure coordinations and mission planning while developing a vetted network of local security assets. On any given engagement, Fractional Coordinators may find themselves conducting advance work and site surveys, leading on-ground operational management for complex multi-stop itineraries, vetting and training local providers in emerging markets, or serving as the day-of point of contact for UHNW clients during sensitive movements.

Individuals who are successful in this role bring a challenges-welcome mindset, calm threat-aware judgment, and the discretion to operate at a low profile around high-profile people. They have a background in executive protection, protective operations, secure transportation, or corporate security, with strong cross-cultural skills and the ability to translate risk and logistics into clear options for clients and teams. They take pride in concierge-caliber delivery and find joy in the high-touch service moments as much as the operational planning. This is a part-time, per-deployment engagement with variable hours and short-notice domestic and international travel. If this sounds like an environment in which you would thrive, we would love the chance to speak with you.

Fortis is a rapidly growing concierge travel and security firm, and we are looking for high level achievers to join our team. We value our outstanding workplace culture, which flows into our passion of caring for ultra high net worth individuals at the highest possible standard. Fortis is headquartered in Greenville, SC, with global offices in Hong Kong and India. Fortis is opening our newest office, Fortis West, in Reno, Nevada, located at the brand new Mayberry Gardens offices.

All positions are subject to a satisfactory background check. Prior convictions will not automatically disqualify a candidate and will be reviewed on a case by case basis. Fortis is an equal opportunity employer.
