Job Summary:
Event Staff are Ilitch Sports + Entertainment ambassadors providing all guests with a positive, lasting impression of the Fox Theatre by delivering a superior guest experience, including but not limited to greeting, directing, assisting, and building relationships with guests, as well as all other Fox staff. This position serves as the front-line for public and private events.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests, scan tickets upon entry to the venue, answer questions, share The Fox Theatre history, and provide guests directions inside and/or outside the venue with accuracy or personal assistance. Assist and educate guests of Accessible services provided.
  • Direct guests in accordance with venue safety policies and procedures. Comprehend, direct, and implement emergency duties, including, but not limited to venue evacuations. Crowd Management activities including, but not limited to, directing large and small crowds dictated by operational guidelines.
  • Event Staff will work any of the following positions: ticket scanner, seating, elevator operator, curtain attendant, and other duties assigned by Guest Services Supervisor or Fox Management for all events.
  • Monitor assigned area during events; control entry into venue's access points for event spaces, seating and guest issues, unauthorized use of video or photography equipment, etc. Engage with non-compliant guests to inform required corrective action, contacting supervisor or management if the situation escalates. Celebrate guest moments and resolve guest complaints or issues.
  • Carry out any job function management assigns and deems appropriate to create a memorable guest experience within the scope of caring and maintaining for the theater, event spaces, guest service, pre-event preparation and post-event break down, guests and Fox staff safety/Emergency Response/Security.
  • Other duties as directed.
  • Assist guests that need wheelchair escorts.
  • Work with other departments to provide every guest with the best possible experience.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma and one to two years of customer service-related experience is required.
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely under pressure.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other colleagues of the organization.


Working Conditions:

  • Irregular and extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to climb stairs and stand for long periods of time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the colleague is occasionally exposed outside weather conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Ability to work in a dim environment.
  • Frequent visual/auditory attention.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
