Job description

Registered Nurse

This position is for medical surgical night shifts. The option of 36 or 48 hours is available. Candidates must have at least 1 year of experience. First-time travelers are welcome. Floating to other units is required. There are 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule. Patient ratios are maintained at 1:5. BLS certification is required at the time of submission. Candidates should have skills in accessing/managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and central line blood draws. Experience in care and management of feeding tubes, heparin, insulin, and isolation precautions is necessary. The role also includes pre/post operative care for neurosurgery and thoracic surgery. Additional responsibilities involve telemetry monitoring and wound care. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. The unit's patient diagnoses primarily consist of post-surgical cases, including bariatrics, orthopedics, neurosurgery, and general surgery. Candidates with experience in managing different patient needs will be preferred. Travelers will receive a brief orientation to the unit. Modules will be completed onsite. Candidates must be prepared to float to like units within their scope as needed.
