Job description

Overview

The Grants Accountant prepares accurate and timely financial reporting for assigned grants. This role ensures compliance with grant requirements, AmeriCorps regulations, OMB/2 CFR200, GAAP, FASB standards, applicable laws, and internal controls. Strict confidentiality of all accounting, payroll, employee, member, and organizational information is required. 

Must be located in one of the following states - Minnesota, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Mississippi, New York, Virginia or Wisconsin 

Responsibilities
  • Grant Invoicing       

    • Produce timely and accurate invoices with adherence to the requirements set forth for each assigned grant 
    • Maintain knowledge base of all requirements for assigned grants. 
    • Monitor budget-to-actual performance for assigned grants and communicate needed adjustments to program and accounting staff to ensure appropriate spend-down. 
    • Ensure compliance with all financial grant requirements, including OMB/2 CFR200 and grant specific terms. 

    Grant Reporting 

    • Prepare accurate and timely grant expenditure reports and financial reporting for government, corporate, and foundation grants. 
    • Review grant allocations details to ensure alignment with spend-down strategies. 
    • Verify accuracy of grant revenue and expenses by funder. 

    Manage Accounting Processes 

    • Monitor Expense allocations to ensure cost are appropriately applies.  
    • Review accounting transactions for proper coding, grant application, and allowability to reduce risk of disallowed costs. 
    • Complete required tasks supporting year-end and other financial monitoring activities 

    Other Duties as Assigned 

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications 

    Minimum Education 

    • Degree in accounting or 1-2 years working in an accounting role 

    Minimum Experience  

    • 1-2 years of experience in non profit accounting 
    • Accuracy and time management skills  
    • NetSuite or equivalent system experience
