Boilers, furnaces, and kilns are the engines of our industrial economy, providing heat to melt steel, form cement, and transform chemicals. But historically reaching this high-temperature heat required burning fossil fuels, making the industrial sector responsible for 25% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

Electrified Thermal Solutions has a simple and massive goal: to electrify industry.

To do this, we are building the Joule Hive™ thermal battery: an energy storage technology that converts and stores cheap, renewable electricity as high-temperature heat. Our vision is to mitigate gigatons of CO2 emissions per year by deploying the Joule Hive™ at every industrial furnace, turbine, boiler, and kiln.

As a Senior Electrical Systems Engineer, you will lead the design of the power electrical system for the Joule Hive™ thermal battery products. You will play a key role in ensuring the electrical system and associated controls can meet cost, timeline and requirements. You will report directly to the VP of Engineering.


What You'll Do
  • Leadthe design of theMegawatt-scaleelectrical system and associated controls forthe Joule Hive™Thermal Batteryandsubsequentproducts/projects.

  • Lead the development ofelectrical analysis/simulationmethodologies tosupport system design.

  • Manageand review work from contractorsworkingonelectrical andcontrolssystem design,fabricationand installation.

  • Collaborate with the rest of the design team toenablean optimaldesign thatmeetsrequirements.

  • Keep up with the latest tools and programs; perform technical research and self-training as needed.

  • Perform site-specific electrical system studiesand designswith customersto enable project execution

  • Lead hiring,trainingandmentoringjunior engineers

  • Support on-site system installation and commissioning as necessary

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree inelectricalengineeringwithatleastsevenyearsofelectrical systemdesignand deploymentexperience.

  • At least 3 years of experience developing, evaluating and deploying large medium voltage (10+ kV) electrical power systems (switch gears, medium voltage drives, etc.)

  • At least3years of experience creating electrical diagrams (wiring, SLD,three-linediagrams, etc.).

  • Professional Engineering license inelectricalengineering in aplus.

  • Experiencedesigning and developing power electronic equipmentand their associated controlsfrom scratch is aplus.

  • Experience devisingcreativedesignsolutions without losing focus on the defined scope and timeline.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Organization & detail-orientation
