Sawhorse Productions is seeking a talented 2D Roblox Artist excited to support the visual development of our Roblox experiences. In this role, you will create high-quality 2D art, UI elements, thumbnails, and game graphics that bring our worlds to life and align with both gameplay and marketing goals. You will collaborate closely with developers, designers, and creative leads to ensure assets are visually compelling, performant, and platform-native.

This is an hourly freelance position, with expected availability Monday through Friday during core working hours of 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM PST.

Requirements

  • 2D Art & Graphic Design: Create polished 2D graphics, illustrations, textures, particles, icons, and visual assets for Roblox experiences, marketing materials, and in-game use.
  • UI Art for Roblox: Design Roblox-native UI elements that fit within the platform's structural framework and technical constraints while maintaining strong visual appeal.
  • Game Asset Support: Support the creation of accessories, clothing, map visuals, icons, thumbnails, and supporting graphics that complement 3D environments and gameplay.
  • Concept Development: Collaborate with the creative team to brainstorm and develop visual concepts that align with project goals, brand guidelines, and gameplay needs.
  • Brand Consistency: Ensure visual consistency across all assets while contributing to the evolution of visual style and branding for Roblox projects.
  • Collaboration with Developers: Work directly with developers to ensure smooth implementation of assets, proper sizing, optimization, and alignment with gameplay systems.
  • Iteration & Feedback: Adapt designs based on creative feedback, playtesting insights, and evolving project requirements.
  • Trend Awareness: Stay current with Roblox trends, visual styles, and platform best practices to bring fresh ideas into active projects.
Qualifications

A strong candidate for this position should have the following qualities:

  • Experience: 2 plus years of experience as a 2D Artist or Graphic Designer, ideally within games, UGC platforms, or interactive media.
  • Roblox Familiarity: Hands-on experience creating art for Roblox or strong familiarity with Roblox visual standards and UI systems.
  • Design Tools: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Art Fundamentals: Strong understanding of composition, color theory, typography, and visual hierarchy.
  • Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing 2D artwork, UI design, game graphics, or interactive media work.
  • Collaboration: Clear communicator with the ability to work effectively across creative and technical teams.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving production environment.
Nice To Haves
  • Experience creating thumbnails or key art for Roblox games.
