Field Service Paving Specialist 2
Department: Machine Division (MAC)
Employment Type: Full Time

Description
The Field Service Paving Technician II provides face-to-face customer service located at off- and on-site locations and is responsible for assisting with quotes, inspection, troubleshooting, diagnostics and diagnostic repairs, repairing, and reconditioning of paving construction equipment. Must be able to obtain CDL Class B; must be able to maintain DOT medical card, must have a valid Texas driver license with a safe driving record. This position will servcie a geographic regions between Waco and South Dallas/Fort Worth on the I-35 corridor. Must be willing to travel with overnight stay possible.
Essential Functions
• Performs repairs and troubleshooting offsite with minimal supervision
• Performs troubleshooting and diagnoses of paving equipment malfunctions and failures
• Removes and install parts, disassembles and assembles components, and tests and adjusts assemblies
• Repairs and/or replaces components according to CAT standards
• Tests and verifies proper operation of all repairs and adjustments
• Prepares and completes all job related documents, writes service reports, orders parts, and maintains clear customer records; in addition, accesses databases required to complete job (work order, parts order, Vision Link, DBS, SimsSI, SIS web)
• Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates
• Maintains service vehicle inspection records, daily inspections and driver logs as required by the Department of Transportation
• Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations
• Maintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicle in good, clean, and working order
• Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed
• Complete assigned jobs and task to meet/exceed flat rate times and re-do metric standards
• Works overtime as required by workload and customers' needs
• Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training in a timely and proficient manner
• Projects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance
• Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
• Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
• Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of complex grade control systems, special software/hardware required for machine communication and diagnoses, intelligent compaction, machine application, asphalt densities, mat deformities, and correct machine operation procedures
• Knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Knowledge of safe work procedures and practices
• Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
• Exceptional skills in customer service
• Excellent diagnostic and trouble-shooting skills

Requirements
Education and Experience:
• More than five years of paving equipment experience required; eight or more years' preferred
• Acceptable driving record required
• Must own required tools to perform repairs
• Diesel technology schooling preferred
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• None
Travel:
• Travel throughout northern Region up to 50% with the possibility of overnight travel
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
• Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
• Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
• Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment
• Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment
• Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
Work Environment:• Regularly works outdoors around moving mechanical parts and noise level may be loud at times; occasionally works indoors in environmentally controlled conditions
• Exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
• Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high speed rotating equipment
• Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
• Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places
