Here's how a General Superintendent for PCL Industrial Construction Co. within US PICCo contributes to our team:

Responsibilities
  • Influences and conveys vision of an entire project, directs the project schedule’s critical path, anticipates constructability issues and troubleshoots, and enhances solutions in the construction plans and schedules for multiple projects. 
  • Works with the project management team to develop and implement the Project Execution Plan (PEP) for assigned projects.
  • Oversees and drives development and execution of work plans; reviews work plans for complex work scopes.
  • Ensures prompt scheduling, coordination, and effective cost control for labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Provides expertise and assistance in equipment selection, and construction methodology pertaining to formwork systems, cranes, etc.
  • Ensures team members review and understand contract and subcontracts and oversees development and implementation plan that identifies and mitigates risks.
  • Participates in a leadership role in new work pursuit for the district through client relations, including participation in the presentation at bid.
  • Develops and maintains strong customer focused relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.
Qualifications
  • Journeyman certificate or postsecondary diploma / engineering degree in a related discipline.
  • 20+ years of progressive experience in field supervision preferred.
  • 2 years as a general superintendent with demonstrated experience of leading successful projects and contributing to the district in a field leadership capacity preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of and experience in the construction industry and company operations, including building materials, construction specifications, and methods and procedures.
  • Ability to lead and manage others, including proactively coordinating multiple scopes.
  • Thorough understanding of contract language and expert ability to identify and mitigate risks, and identify and leverage opportunities.
  • Expert knowledge of and application of safety and environmental principles/ procedures/legislation and demonstrated experience in implementing a strong safety culture.
  • Demonstrated conflict-resolution skills, problem-solving abilities and professional judgment.
  • Superior relationship management with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.
