Job description

Formulation Technician / Associate – Biopharma

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Formulation Technician/Associate to support formulation development and manufacturing activities within a biopharmaceutical environment. This position will assist with the preparation, processing, sampling, and documentation of pharmaceutical formulations while following established GMP procedures and safety requirements.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a laboratory, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or GMP manufacturing environment and be comfortable working with equipment, materials, documentation, and controlled processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform formulation and compounding activities according to approved procedures, batch records, and work instructions.
  • Prepare and stage raw materials, components, buffers, solutions, and other materials required for formulation activities.
  • Accurately weigh, measure, dispense, and document materials.
  • Operate and clean formulation and laboratory equipment as trained.
  • Perform mixing, blending, filtration, sampling, and other formulation-related activities.
  • Follow approved SOPs, batch records, work instructions, and GMP requirements.
  • Accurately record manufacturing and formulation data in real time.
  • Review documentation for completeness and accuracy and report discrepancies or deviations.
  • Assist with investigations related to formulation, processing, equipment, or documentation deviations.
  • Perform in-process sampling and coordinate samples with Quality Control or laboratory personnel.
  • Maintain proper identification and traceability of raw materials and finished formulations.
  • Support equipment setup, cleaning, sanitization, and changeover activities.
  • Follow gowning, aseptic practices, and contamination-control procedures as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe manufacturing/laboratory work area.
  • Communicate effectively with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Warehouse, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization activities.
  • Complete all required training and maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field preferred.
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience may be considered for Technician-level candidates.
  • 1–3+ years of experience in biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, laboratory, or GMP manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Experience with formulation, compounding, buffer preparation, solution preparation, or pharmaceutical manufacturing strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of GMP, GDP, and data integrity principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Ability to accurately follow written procedures and manufacturing instructions.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory and manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a cross-functional team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems is preferred.

Work Environment
