We are seeking a Technical Service & Development (TS&D) Specialist to support the Multibase product line. This role provides technical expertise to customers across product development and application, processing methods, testing to industry standards, and troubleshooting. The TS&D Specialist also contributes to product improvements, competitive positioning of existing offerings, and new product development initiatives. As a key technical resource, this individual partners closely with regional business teams and collaborates with global technical, manufacturing, sales, and marketing teams, as well as distributors, customers, and strategic partners.

This role has a preferred location at our Copley, OH site. Remote applicants in the Detroit, MI area will be strongly considered.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support:

  • Offers technical support and exceptional customer service to clients by addressing inquiries and efficiently resolving issues.
  • Provide customer technical support on the product range and coordinate generation of technical data necessary to qualify the product for customers and targeted applications with a goal of gaining customer approval.
  • Develop and provide product training and assist with product literature.

Customer Engagement:

  • Communicate effectively with customers to gather feedback, fully understand their needs, and provide customized solutions.
  • Act as a product representative for our customers. Attend meetings, provide presentations, sometimes on the customer site.
  • Follow the qualification, at the customers, and ensure the conformity of our products to the industry standards.

Documentation Maintenance:

  • Maintain precise documentation of test results, procedures, and customer interactions to ensure traceability and compliance. Document results in the required customer format.
  • Conduct analytical, experimental, investigative, and other fact-finding work to support the customer.
  • Provide scientific understanding of the observed phenomena, over composition, process, and performance relationship.

Troubleshooting & Quality Management:

  • Develop and implement strategic approaches for troubleshooting quality issues related to product performance and application.

Collaboration:

  • Active member of project team. Participate in the global technical network and ensure knowledge transfer.
  • Contribute to the site programs (such as safety and quality). Adherence to product stewardship is required.

Industry Knowledge:

  • Develop and demonstrate professional expertise and experience acquired through the writing of internal technical reports, active participation in seminars, publication of articles in the specialized press and presentations at relevant technical conferences.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, standards, and regulations to maintain expertise in thermoplastics technologies

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of thermoplastic processes, including compounding, injection molding, and extrusion techniques, with a solid understanding of polymer materials, formulations, and organic and silicone compounds
  • Demonstrated experience in a TS&D role and/or customer-facing role
  • Proven experience in thermoplastic compounding, from formulation to manufacturing
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in written and spoken English
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in product development and application, processing techniques, testing against industry standards, and problem solving for both customers and internal teams
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to develop work plans, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to achieve customer and business objectives
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experienced with IT tools such as SAP
  • Willingness to travel to up to 40% to support business needs and customer engagement
