Job description

Fitness Director, Workout Anytime
Raleigh (Lake Wheeler) and Wake Forest / Rolesville
Salaried base plus uncapped commission | Full time | Two clubs, one department, one leader
Read this part first
We are not hiring a trainer. We are not hiring someone to babysit a floor and hand out workout plans.
We are hiring the person who is going to run and grow a fitness department across two of the fastest growing gyms in North Carolina.
The seat has been empty for six months. We have run this department twenty to thirty thousand dollars a month higher than it sits today, and we did it with the right person in this exact role. Everything is built and waiting: the members, the traffic, the sales process, the equipment, the comp plan. It needs an owner.
If you want a safe hourly job where nobody watches the numbers, close this tab. If you have been sitting in somebody else's gym knowing you could run the whole thing better, keep reading.
What you will actually own
You own the fitness department the way an owner owns it: revenue in, labor out, profit at the bottom.
  • Fill the funnel Every new member who enrolls gets contacted by you and gets on the schedule for a Success Session. Every one.
  • Close Your team converts assessments and complimentary sessions into paid training. Company minimum is 30 percent. We are not looking for the minimum.
  • Sell personally You carry your own book. You run Success Sessions, you close, you train. Leaders here sell in front of their team, not behind them.
  • Build the team Hire, certify, schedule, and coach the trainers. Weekly one on ones, phone skill audits, live coaching on the floor, real accountability.
  • Deliver results Before and after photos, written testimonials, transformations posted and celebrated. Clients who get results renew. That is the whole business.
  • Run the numbers Know your assessments, show rate, close rate, average sale, sessions delivered, revenue per trainer, and department profit without looking them up. Manage the schedule so labor stays in line and overtime never surprises anybody.
  • Own the department P and L Reconcile programming revenue against sessions delivered and commissions owed. Submit clean PT payroll.
  • Grow with us We are taking over additional locations. The person who proves it in these two clubs is the person we build the next ones around.

What you get paid
  • A safe base Salaried, exempt, paid whether it is a slow week or not. You are not eating ramen while you build.
  • Commission on your personal production Every session you sell and deliver.
  • A percentage of total department revenue Recurring, on everything your team produces.
  • Tiers that climb as you grow Hit a new revenue tier and your percentage of the department goes up. So growth pays you twice: more revenue and a bigger cut of it. There is no cap on this.

Grow the department, your income climbs, and it keeps climbing. That is the entire design. We would rather pay somebody a lot of money for building something than pay somebody a little for maintaining it.
Who we are looking for
  • Hungry. You want more than you are making now and you are willing to go get it.
  • A real salesperson. You are comfortable talking to strangers, asking direct questions, and asking for money without flinching.
  • Numbers minded. KPIs are not a corporate word to you. They are how you know if you had a good week.
  • A leader by example. Your team does what you do, not what you say.
  • Passionate about fitness and genuinely about people. We change lives here. We have done it hundreds of times and we have the photos to prove it.
  • Energetic and present. You set the tone in the building the second you walk in.

Requirements
  • Certification: Current nationally accredited personal training certification (NASM, NSCA, ACSM, ACE, or AFAA) and current CPR/AED. You need it now, not in six months.
  • Experience: Minimum one year training clients in a gym setting. Management experience preferred.
  • Sales experience: You have personally sold gym memberships or personal training packages. This is not optional.
  • Education: B.S. in exercise science, kinesiology, or a related field preferred, not required.
  • Availability: Early mornings and evenings. This is where the members are.
  • Physical: Able to lift moderate to heavy weight regularly and demonstrate exercises safely.

Do not apply if
  • You are not certified.
  • You have never sold a gym membership or a training package.
  • You are scared to talk to people and ask for money.

We say that respectfully. This job will make somebody very happy and very well paid, and it will make the wrong person miserable in ninety days. Save us both the time.
