Job description

STS Packaging, a Schwarz Partners, L.P. affiliate company is currently seeking a Forklift Operator/Material Handler in Mooresville/Monrovia, IN. The Forklift Operator/Material Handler reports to the Shift Supervisor. The primary responsibility of the Material Handler is to inspect all production cases for quality and ship ability (proper labeling, sealing, etc.). Product must be stacked and stretch wrapped per product configuration specifications and then properly staged for movement into the Warehouse.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Operate all PIT equipment per OSHA specifications, including daily inspections, changing of batteries/propane tank, etc.
  • Perform final quality inspection of all products produced (correct packaging, correct labels, properly sealed, etc.) prior to placement on stretch wrapper.
  • Operate all stretch wrap machines within defined specifications and without assistance.
  • Operate and maintain "label printer" which includes: correct product and color, correct date and time; ensure roll of labels are always on machine.
  • Ensure "Staging Areas" are organized, clean and per specifications throughout shift.
  • Relieve other Material Handler personnel during breaks and meal periods
  • Perform all housekeeping functions necessary to business operations (from daily shift requirements to Plant Sanitation audits) in respective work areas at all times.
  • Perform any and all job assignments/functions as necessary to daily business demands as instructed by Management.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area and reports unsafe conditions to Supervisor for resolution.
  • Adheres to all safety policies, including always wearing required PPE, and sets an example to others for model safety behavior.
  • Reports any major quality or food safety issues to Supervisor
  • Additional duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • High School degree or GED.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Must follow Safety/GMP/PPE guidelines.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Take direction from Shift Supervisor.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge.
  • Desire to accept additional responsibility and learn new tasks.
  • Work in accordance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to work overtime when needed.
  • Ability to operate forklift proficiently and safely.
  • Ability to differentiate between good/bad product quality and troubleshoot issues.
  • Ability to operate a calculator and add up to 100 manually.
PHYSICAL DEMADS:
  • Constant standing, walking, talking, hearing; occasional sitting; specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception and peripheral vision.
  • The position also requires the ability to stand 90% of shift and lift up to 45 pounds.
