Job description

Woodville Pellets is hiring an Industrial Woodyard Operator to support chipper, loader, and crane operations in our woodyard. If you have experience operating heavy equipment and enjoy working in a team-oriented industrial environment, we'd like to hear from you.


The primary responsibility of this role is operating and monitoring the chipper system; however, successful candidates will also be cross-trained to support heavy equipment and crane operations as needed. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience operating industrial equipment in manufacturing, forestry, sawmill, logging, or woodyard environments.


What You'll Do


Primary Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor the woodyard chipper system.
  • Maintain consistent production of quality wood chips for pellet manufacturing.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify operational issues.
  • Perform routine inspections and basic troubleshooting.
  • Maintain safe and efficient material flow throughout the woodyard.


Cross-Functional Responsibilities

  • Operate front-end loaders, wheel loaders, and other heavy equipment.
  • Assist with unloading and handling logs and raw materials.
  • Provide coverage for crane operations as needed.
  • Support inventory management and material movement throughout the yard.
  • Assist with housekeeping and minor equipment maintenance activities.


Safety Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety procedures and policies.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training programs.
  • Utilize proper PPE and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Report safety concerns, incidents, and equipment issues promptly.


What We're Looking For


Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing, forestry, logging, sawmill, woodyard, or heavy equipment operations.
  • Experience operating loaders, cranes, excavators, dozers, chippers, or similar industrial equipment preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced industrial environment.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn multiple woodyard functions and operate various equipment.


Working Conditions

  • Outdoor industrial work environment.
  • Exposure to weather conditions, dust, noise, and vibration.
  • Frequent walking, climbing, bending, and standing.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
