Job description

Cook – Fire Camp Kitchen

We are seeking reliable and hardworking Cooks to join our kitchen team at fire camp. This role is essential in preparing and serving meals that meet our Mobile Food Service Unit (MFSU) standards and government contract specifications. A successful candidate will bring strong culinary skills, adaptability, and the ability to work in demanding conditions to help ensure our customers receive consistent, high-quality meals.

This is a hands-on cooking role that requires working in all types of extreme weather conditions and serving large numbers of people in a fast-paced environment.


Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down the kitchen, salad bar, and beverage trailer at fire camp.

  • Prepare, cook, and serve meals according to recipes, menus, and contract specifications.

  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation practices at all times.

  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization during service and after shifts.

  • Accurately complete and maintain temperature logs.

  • Assist with food prep, bulk cooking, and line service to ensure timely meal delivery.

  • Work collaboratively with the Kitchen Manager, MFSU Manager, and Inventory Manager to ensure food, supplies, and equipment are ready for service.

  • Report any equipment issues or food safety concerns to the Kitchen Manager or supervisor immediately.

  • Maintain quality control standards and consistency in all prepared food.

  • Support training of new kitchen staff as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support successful meal service at fire camp.


Skills/Qualifications
  • Proven cooking experience (restaurant, catering, or large-volume food service preferred).

  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong attention to detail, food safety, and cleanliness.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing conditions and schedules.

  • Positive, professional, and dependable work ethic.

  • Previous experience in government contract food service is a plus.

  • Must be comfortable working in remote outdoor environments.


Required Certifications
  • ServSafe Food Handler Certification (Manager certification is a plus).
