Job description
Manitowoc County is seeking dedicated, professional, and detail-oriented individuals to serve as ON CALL Deputy Coroner within our forensic services team.
This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact by serving the community through compassionate, professional death investigations and forensic support.
Position ResponsibilitiesDeputy Coroners are responsible for:
- Investigating deaths throughout Manitowoc County
- Ordering and assisting with autopsies
- Conducting post-mortem examinations
- Collecting and preserving evidence from decedents
- Working closely with law enforcement, medical personnel, and forensic professionals
- Providing respectful and professional interactions with families during difficult times
Deputy Coroners must commit to a minimum of 80 hours of on-call availability each month, including:
- Nights
- Weekends
- Holidays
- Prior medical experience
- Calm and professional under pressure
- Compassionate and respectful
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Interested in forensic science, investigations, or public service
