About the Town of Leesburg and Nature of Work This is responsible municipal law enforcement work in the protection of the life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances. Work involves responsibility for the protection of life and property, prevention of crime, apprehension of criminals and the enforcement of laws and ordinances in a designated area on an assigned shift. Must be currently certified by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Service as a Law Enforcement Officer.

External consideration for employment above the basic level requires compliance with the Leesburg Police Department's Career Development Program: Certified Police Officer I (P1) Salary: $68,500-$119,589 DOQ Minimum of two (2) years of law enforcement experience for consideration for employment as Police Officer II (P2). Salary: $71,925,300-$125,609 DOQ Minimum of five (5) years of law enforcement experience for consideration for employment as Police Officer III (P3). Salary: $75,521-$131,846 DOQ Minimum of nine (9) years of law enforcement experience for consideration for employment as Master Police Officer (P4).
Salary: $79,297-$138,437 DOQ Preferred Qualifications Associate's, Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field. Any of the following DCJS Instructorship Certifications: Firearms, EVOC, Defense Tactics, General, OC, Radar/Lidar, SFST. Virginia EMT Certification.
