The opportunity

We're looking for a Forensic Accountant to join our team in order to work with and support a team of accountants and to support the claims adjusters and claimants relating to losses incurred.

What you'll do

  • Verify the validity of the claim for business/income loss (primarily Property and Healthcare)

  • Analyze financial documents provided while respecting the commitments and obligations to the claimant

  • Listen to and anticipate the needs of the claimant and offer the best solutions

  • Meet the claimant and his Accountant when required, in collaboration with the expert in charge of the file loss. May require occasional travel

  • Communicate the results in a clear, precise and simplified manner to the claims adjuster or the claimant, adapting communication style accordingly

  • Provide fair and equitable settlement that will consider the policy, standards, rules, applicable laws and following company processes

  • Offer technical support to adjusters and team leaders, ensuring timely follow-up

  • Develop efficient workflows and processes to ensure timely resolution of files

What you'll bring

  • A degree in Business (Finance, Economics, Accounting & Finance) or equivalent, and an MBA would be preferable.

  • CPA or equivalent in good standing or working toward.

  • This position demands a high level of independence, visibility and also communication. Therefore, effective communication skills are essential

  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives in a structured and controlled framework

  • Ability to manage large volumes of data and still see the "big picture"

  • Proven ability to embrace and lead change, be highly adaptable and flexible, decisive and display excellent judgment

  • Autonomous, able to manage their work in a fast paced, time restricted environment

  • Professional levels of English; proficiency in French and asset

  • Advanced skills in MS office

What you'll get

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $62,000 to $72,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
