Job Summary
The Community Work-Study Program (CWS) provides federal financial aid eligible students the opportunity to work part-time at nonprofit organizations that serve the public interest.

Position Overview
The Children's Advocacy Center is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated program intern to support programs and services dedicated to helping children and families affected by abuse. This position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in child advocacy, nonprofit program support, community outreach, research, and administrative operations while working alongside professionals in social services and law enforcement.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support, including preparing reports, organizing files, and assisting with financial documentation.
  • Help develop and distribute educational materials for community outreach programs.
  • Assist with children's activities, including art classes, special events, and other program-related activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and contribute to a professional and welcoming environment for children and families.
  • Support coordination efforts with law enforcement, social services agencies, and other community partners.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute ideas to support and improve advocacy programs.

Minimum Requirements
  • Enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours per semester for undergraduates, 3 credit hours for graduates).
  • Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.
  • Must have a current and complete file with the Office of Financial Aid.
  • Must demonstrate financial need by submitting a FAFSA application annually.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible non-citizen with an alien registration number.
  • Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU's Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).
