Position Overview
As a Superintendent for Kiewit, you will play a pivotal role in both project and company success. You will function as a field supervisor, overseeing Foremen, laborers, and craft workers. Your responsibilities will include organizing work methods, scheduling, cost control, ensuring conformity with drawings and specifications, and maintaining high standards of workmanship. Additionally, you will foster positive working relationships with clients, architects/engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and jobsite staff.

Kiewit Water Facilities South specializes in constructing water treatment facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, and desalination plants across North America. Our people receive continuous and extensive training, hands-on experience, and challenging responsibilities from day one, quickly developing the expertise that has earned our district its reputation as the premier contractor in the southeast United States.

Responsibilities
  • Mentor and develop fellow Kiewit staff.
  • Review and approve the balance of Foreman, Journeyman, and Laborers' composite labor rates.
  • Manage contract administration, including subcontractor and field management meetings.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining the client relations program.
  • Review, approve, and negotiate change orders
  • Develop and implement a plan for project completion and turnover
  • Maintain a daily diary for record-keeping purposes.
  • Ensure the timely completion of performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Recommend organizational, procedural, and/or staff changes where appropriate.
  • Submit promotion requests to the Discipline Manager or Construction Manager.

Qualifications
  • 8+ years of construction experience, with 3+ years in a Superintendent/Leadership capacity (preferably on infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, dams, water/wastewater treatment plants, etc.).
  • Self-starter with high motivation and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Quick learner with the ability to understand various processes regarding Kiewit's policies, procedures, and software programs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration.
  • Ability to access all areas on a construction project site.

  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
